I’m thinking change fox 36 160mm to 180mm?

Not 100% sure how you do it but have heard that you can't extend the travel in the E specific forks, it's something to do the extra thick stanchions on them. I believe that you can do it to the non E-bike forks though, hope this is of some help and please correct me if I've got it wrong.

Yes. the E-36 forks which are on the Decoy can not be extended cause they use 34 internals which don't go past 160. just get rid of the fork and either get a regular 36 or go with a 38 or a rock shox.

The 2020 bikes come with 170mm travel in the forks. The 2019 models can't be changed as Akuria said they have 34 internals. Not completely sure if the 2020 models have 34 internals also?

The 2020 Fox 36 170mm on the Decoy is just a normal Fox Factory 36. I pulled mine apart last week along with rebuilding a 160mm fork off another Decoy. The Fox 36 160mm did have a thicker stanchion and a 34 air shaft. If your wanting to go to 180mm of travel, I would suggest the Fox 38. Especially on the ebikes or if your an aggressive rider with that amount of travel.

I would say yes just make sure you get a 34 air shaft not a 36 shaft.

I've changed my 36ebike 160mm to a 170mm with 34 internals recently. Just order a 36 170mm or 180mm airshaft, change all the hardware from your fork on the new longer shaft (pistons and seals of the 34 internals). Some knowledge and specific tools is recommanded. Parts don't exist per say in Fox catalog, but it's easy to figured out. A Fox service center helped me out and sold me the part.

Chuck, thanks for this. Have you experienced or heard of any weird behavior at end of stroke? My local suspension pros had concerns, I think either bushing overlap or something to do with the negative air spring- in any case, they advised against bumping my emtb fox 36 to 180mm.

They also said it could be fine, but I’d be better off with a 38 or zeb. Neither of which are in my budget and I really just want to knock the head angle back a degree.

Appreciate any reports from riders who have done this!
