We got a "Shelter in Place" in Orange Co. Calif. due to covid-19. 14 days of not going out. I was planning on riding tomorrow. So the battery is fully charged. Any other way to discharge the battery without riding the bike?

I wouldn't bother, I left my fully charged battery unused for over 3 months and had my first ride the other day. Although it showed 5 bars, I got significantly less riding kms than I did before. In essence it looks like it lost capacity from 100% down to 82-3%, enough to keep it in 5 bars but not really at 100%.

I've recharged it and ridden it a few times since then and it is still a good as was before with no issues.

Sure leaving battery 100% charged for few months probably won't noticeably hurt battery in short term, but it might reduce cycle count long term, so if I were you I would find a way to discharge it to 60-80% ... a Beekeeper idea is not so bad, but it might take some time ...

I might just ride it around the neighborhood in Turbo mode. I ride solo anyways.

Or you could knock up a little axle stand to get the rear wheel off the ground, stick the bike in the lounge room in front of the big screen TV, find an awesome POV MTB video on Youtube and go nuts petending its you doing the ride on the screen. How easy is it to jump that gap when it's someone else doing it! :ROFLMAO:

You mean your not even allowed out alone to exercise ? Surely not ? I think if they tried that here in uk there would be full scale riots

Starting about this time last year, we had 50 days when we weren't allowed out other than to go to the shop (the closest one!) or to work (in an essential job) or to a medical emergency. My neighbour's dad got a fine for exercising his own horse in his own field adjacent to his own house - it was really strict.

If it's any consolation to you, the cafes and bars have been open here since last May (other than closing twice for 2 weeks to knock off a peak). I guess you get what you are willing to put up with. Schools are open too.

Every country seems to have a different approach for sure , so many seem to be not well thought out, including some of ours

Or you could rig up (say) 4 x 12W 12Volt car bulbs in series, and discharge at 1 amp for as long as you need (for a 48V battery)

that’s a brilliant idea. I’m thinking 5 hours to bring the charge down from 100% to 50%?
