In Newcastle, NSW AUS here.
Hired or tried a few diff E-MTBs in recent months - how good are they!
Will be keeping an eye on sales/new models etc over the next year or so especially, hopefully by then saving enough $ for a bike ~AUD$5-6k, perhaps.
A couple of recommended local shops stock Merida, Norco, Specialized, GT, Trek brands - have browsed a few threads & reviews in this site offering some really good info.
Cheers!

Where are people riding in Iso?

I spent a month at our place at Buller but had to come home to Melbourne for my pregnant wife’s tests/appointments etc.

I live in Inner SE Melbourne, where are some good places to ride that don’t require a car trip and risk of a $1600 fine?

If you read the nhhs website, it does not say you can’t travel for exercise. That was just the police handing out fines at their discretion as directed by the powers at be. Hence the reason those fined for driving to the park had their fine revoked.
I’ve been riding Yarra trails, quarry park and Dandenong/silvan. None of my riding buddies are willing to risk it so I’ve been riding alone.
If your keen to meet up (which according to the dhhs website is currently allowing two people from different households to exercise together while maintaining 1.5m distance) I am keen to catch up.

Love the Yarra trails but it might be a bit of a stretch to explain to the officer my 2 day drive to get there.

Thanks @Christian I’ll give the Yarra Trails a look this week - kinda hard to plan to meet up as I need the stars to align with a sleeping or well-behaving toddler and an agreeable pregnant wife to get out, so I tend to just jump on opportunities.

We may well go up to Buller on Wednesday after a round of tests/appointments. My month up there was great for my riding, it really progressed though I wasn’t really pushing my downhill skills as I didn’t want to break anything, but climbing really progressed! I rode every XC trail on Buller + Stonefly, also did Copperhead in the DH zone. Didn’t go as far as Epic as riding solo, need to keep something for the future!

Thanks for that link, it's a shame it doesn't include clarity on when travel for exercise is considered acceptable. From my readings of articles re cancelled travel fines, the cops permit travel to THE NEAREST mtb facility? The idea is to try and reduce regional cross transmission of covid. I know the local interpretation us to ride at either blores hill or mt taylor, whichever us closer.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if your wife was comfortable with you meeting up for rides. There has been concern about placental transmission, and that then raises the question of what happens if covid turns out to be like hiv / hep / herpes - something that once infected leaves us with a life of possibly shedding / recurrences. Absolutely no data on this yet, but the two pregnant doctors I know are being VERY carefull.

The problem with all these laws is nothing is defined properly. I feel the dhhs is the best source for information and I will go by those guidelines. I have 4 parks with in an hour of me so I will stick to them for now until told otherwise. I don’t like riding on the road as statistically I am more likely to die on the road. On the walking/commuter tracks I have ridden on there are more people on them than the supermarket so I can’t see how that is safer than riding in the bush where there are barely anyone.
I will interpret the law how I see best. If they fine me for trying to stay away from as many people as possible then I will deal with it as it happens.

Fair enough, and in suburbia that's probably a reasonable call.

The regional centres are where it becomes more relevant - I suspect you risk getting grief from the Healesville cops if you live closer to, say, lysterfield ? Think about regional health facilities, and the impact of transmitting covid to an area with very limited facilities. As an example, the further east in gippsland you travel, the further away from the nearest covid clinic ( wonthaggi) or icu specialist ( berwick)

Perth here. Been seeing more and more emtb out at the local trails in Kalamunda. These bikes are just so versatile. Awesome rides for the past year that my other 2 wheel machines pedal & d’bikes just get used less, I just keep reaching for the e trance on the weekends.
Other boys I sometimes ride with all on analogs would be great smashing some Runs with some other emtb’s!

Stay safe everyone and keep ticking over those pedals!

Hi All, newbie here. I am in the Adelaide Hills, SA. Seems a pretty good spot to be for the forest trails but the parks are better down in the sourthern or northern suburbs. Wish the hills had good stuff like O'Halloran Hill or Cobbler Creek.

Sydney Nth beaches , lots of ebikes up here ,
maybe its the older more financially affluent demographic of the local population.
Lots of e-curious too.
The group I have been riding with for the last 15 years have all but a couple gone non analog .
Now the up is as much fun as the down especially in our hmmmm more mature age group where the fitness you had is defiantly in our past.
We have so many great trails up here now , and due to the lack of altitude but multiple trails now linked together thanks to the tireless work of
the COVID lock down brigade we can link them together making a few hours of enjoyable riding .

Fellow Queenslanders I'm thinking about checking out the sunny coast tomorrow. Which would be the best to ride out of Tewantin, Sugar Bag Rd or Parklands.

You won’t be disappointed with any of them but my pick would be parklands as it’s more of a natural setting and there is so much there. 3 of us riding at Wamuran at 10 am if you want to join us

I'm in Perth WA too. Got my levo not too long ago. New to MTb in general haven't been out much. Been to little tracks in lesmurdy etc and just trying to practice skills at parks around my house lol. Waiting on friend to get a bike too so we can go hit some trails as I'm a total noob lol

Is there any emtb clubs on Strava for Perth or anything that anyone know of?

No emtb clubs I’m aware of. Start off riding some of the green lines In Kalamunda. Stick to flattish trails and build up slowly.
Enjoy your new ride

Rode from home to camel farm today. Did the skill circuit thing and camel train and rode back down to Belmont. Was pretty good. I do enjoy the social aspect of it too tho so I prefer to have buddies.

R they harder tracks? I'm only doing Greenies at the moment as I'm a total noob lol
Blue trails and the occasional black (some obstacles I avoid)

if youre ever down south try out the compartment 10. A trail that springs to mind for you is fluid, one of my favourite. Its a green trail that’s smooth / flowy and fast if you push. On a non ebike there’s some flattish sections so you need to push but the emtb makes that like it’s non existent
