How long to charge yer battery?

Has anyone took notice of how long it actually takes to charge their battery?
I did yesterday and from tit flat was 3hrs 30min till solid light (not charger timing out).

Depends on battery size (capacity) and the current your charger can put out. Bosch for example do 3 different types of charger, 2, 4 or 6 Amp

with my Bosch 500wh battery and 4A charger it would take about 3-4 hours from flat I would say for a complete charge

Also, 2019 on Levo reduces the charger output for the last 20%. For a 700Wh battery it is 22% per hour to 80% then about half that for the rest.

Shimano say 2hrs to 80% and 5hrs total but obviously not the case.
Might be 5hrs until the charger turns off.

I have found the last 5-10% takes ages. Maybe it goes on a 'trickle' charge for the last few %.

I have seen it on here that the last part of the charge cycle is there to "balance the cells". I have no idea what that actually means, but it is important. Maybe an expert can reveal all (well not ALL, but enough for the numpties among us).

I didn't think cell balancing was needed for lithium batteries.
My Bosch 625 charges in around 3-4 hrs on the 2 amp charger, but the last bit can take ages, if you don't let it put in that last bit (kiox says 100%) then it drops from 100% almost instantly, if you leave it till the display turns off then it lasts a while before starting to drop. I also have a 6 amp charger, that's really fast but I've never taken much notice of the actual time
My wifes Shimano 625 takes almost double the time till fully charged.

Cell balancing is a likely cause. Multi-cell battery packs need cell balancing so that all the cells are charged fully without overchaging any of them. They discharge at slightly different rates due to a varity of factors.
