Answered How do you carry an EMTB over a gate?

I saw a video of someone do this recently but have forgotten. (I think it was Chris Smith from EMBN). It looked so easy and was a very swift movement. I think it involves lifting on their back somehow and lowering down the other side. Can’t remember exactly.
Is there a recommended technique?

That similar to was what I was attempting to do (except it was on its rear wheel). It had worked before on other kissing gates. But the one in my story must have been a tighter curve, or maybe just narrower, because the bike got stuck.

Been there, done that. My Cube has the battle scars to prove it!

A 23kg Ebike can be hopped just as high as a 15kg mtb. It's technique.
If you're struggling after 5 years of practice you're practicing wrong.

I`d pay money to see that !
And I highly doubt Chris Smith could bunny hop a gate ... He`s good ,but not that good . The world record bunny hop is almost as high as that gate . And it was done on a BMX bike .

But I didn`t see him bunny hop any gates mate > In that vid I saw him attempt to bump jump a railing [ and fail ] . It had a log in front to bump up off .
You do understand the difference between bump jump and bunny hop though ?
Actually bunny hopping the gate is beyond Chris`s abilities . I have seen plenty of his riding . Like I said he`s good , but not bunny hop a gate good !

Yes but there's also plenty of fences where you have to lift over if you want to ride some of the tracks around there. Particularly some of the footpaths. There's also a few custom trails around there that people have dug and most of these are behind fences.

That’s where I ride too. I just lift my bike over gates and fences as I would a normal bike. Gets harder towards the end of a ride when you’re knackered for sure. Styles are another ball game though!

I think you all need to stop faffing around and just front flip your gates Danny style :


For those of you who don't do this .. Ride really really fast at gate, stand up and move body weight as far forward as you dare. Slam front brake on just before you hit the gate - fly forwards as you go over the bars (handle bar and gate top bar) - remember to keep hold of grips so bike follows you over. Tuck and roll - land on bike - check you had your go pro running. Continue ride. Upload footage to forum.

For kissing gates when I want bike on back wheel I get off bike, and then stand by the side of it, shove pedal down and then bike shoots forward, and up onto its back wheel, press brake.

.We have a pair kissing gates near us the first 1 you a can get the bike through by but it on its back wheel, but the other is smaller so you have to carry the 25 kg bike over the top ??
