Stupid question but can’t you remove the paint off the mount and possibly polish it, a bench grinder with polishing or buffing wheels could be another way, just an idea mate.

Probably. But in reality I'm not bothered enough to do that. I'll ask Hope to make one lol. Bit weird that Whyte went with flat mount in first place.

They might be able to send you one that’s unpainted and yes it is weird but I suppose it was early days for Whyte going into electric bikes, I suppose the brake mounts are different on the new models like the derailleur mount

I didn't need to drop the motor in the end. However, in my anticipation that I would I rounded two bolts. Anyway, with help from a friend and that park tools routing kit we did manage it. Looks ace too.
