How mange mileage do you have/had on the longeste 2.1 motor?

We all know the Brose2.1 motor can breakdown with low mileage, but specialized and Brose have made some improvements on the motor. Lates with the 2.2 motor.

I had some motor with problems with very low mileage. But I got a motor in December 2020, and it have been amazing! 3500km! Only problem I had been a speedsensor, but nothing to the motor.

So lets share, the highest mileage on the 2.1 motor. Someone that can beat mine 3500km ?

Almost 5400kms on my 2019 Comp Carbon (500wh battery); no motor issues and still on original software. I absolutely love the bike, just hope this isn't the kiss of death!

5 motors is 3200 miles (5700 ish km) that’s a new motor every 1148 km or 700 miles

Do people replace their motors when they start to sound unhealthy or wait until it's broke ?


I've done 6000km total out of 2 motors

Loads of other things have been replaced far more than motors. MTB components arent that good. 7th chain for instance.

I notice when it’s not right then get it diagnosed, the shop usually suggest a change based of the conditions they see.

Sad to hear ? What issue did you have? Hopefully the new motor you got will make it longer

First motor lost all assist and was hard to pedal. Second motor made a loud screeching sound and failed.
LBS not able to tell me what failed as they just replace motor and are not that knowledgeable about failures.
They found failing cable when they installed the third motor and the battery failed shortly after that replacement.
Have about 900km on latest motor and all good so far....

I weigh about 70 kg kitted.

But I‘m 75 kg and like to ride to challenge my body - so no „motorcycle riding“ ?

I was wondering what rider weight could do, was 92kg in the beginning of 2021, now 75kg too. Can defiantly use "more" power with less battery usage. I don't think I will beat you 5000km, hopefully my 2022 levy will arrive soon :D

My motor sounds unhealthy, swishing noises, decent performance still though. I've kept it while the weather has been so good because it's a 1 to 2 week wait for a new motor.

Sounds about right, far more problems with other bike componants than the motors

Bloody typical when the motors are replaced for free and the other parts I've had to foot the bill

2020 Turbo Levo, now up to a bit over 4500 km's. Lots of gravel trails, not much on asphalt, and I'm not a serious mountain biker; although I like going fast I am not fond of really steep downhills so I generally slow down a bit - I'm fearful of wiping out and ending up in a distressful state. Front fork (Rockshox 35 Gold) has been rebuilt under warranty. Currently getting a new spoke installed in rear wheel - a stick ended up in the wheel, which rotated till the stick jammed into the seat stays causing an immediate halt to the fun. Bent the spoke, didn't damage the rim, but eventually spoke broke after about 500 km's (so it's my fault, nothing to do with warranty and I'm amazed at how durable the spoke and rim are...). No problems with the motor - I'm still riding the same one the bicycle came with. All firmware updates done, with OTA or when I needed to bring it back to LBS where I had purchased it. What a great piece of technology is all I can say.

I have ordered a 2022 Levo Turbo Comp due in a month. I am now having my doubts!!
My current e-mtb is a 2019 Giant Trance +1 Pro with just over 8500 km on the clock. Riding weight 91 kg. Approx 50% trail riding, the rest riding to trails and home again afterwards on sealed pathways.
No trouble at all with the Yamaha motor. I would have ordered a new Giant but guaranteed delivery in New Zealand is uncertain, and could be months away.
I am now in two minds whether to cancel my Specialized and just wait for a 2022 Giant whenever that may be.
Be interested in comments from experienced owners of Specialized mtbs.

Relax, my giant motor died at around 5000 km ( pwx1 , it was replaced under warranty by a pwx2).

It's the internet - nobody writes an average thread

My first motor didn't last long at all until it started to sound unhealthy. Probably 1500km. But it didn't fail until it had done around 4,500km though! The second motor started sounding unhealthy around 1,000 to 1,500km again but I didn't wait for it to fail this time, got it replaced by bike shop. They said bearings worn or damaged. It could probably have gone on a lot further though.

9100km on original May 2019 motor on my 2020 Levo when I noticed a plasticy grinding (best I can described it) noise, only when assistance on, and no loss of support or other roughness. Popped by my LBS on way home, report in to Specialized. Tried to get another ride but noise much worse, so saving it for a final ride to the Shop.

I am on motor 5 and all were replaced because they failed not just noise. Good news is my 5th one has 1,350 miles on it and still going strong. The first three avg 500 miles and the 4th went 1,200 miles.
