After what seemed like an endless search for a EMTB in XL, I managed to pickup a Rail 9. Couldn’t be happier, although I’m holding off on riding it until my invisiframe arrives. Have found some great pre-purchase info on here from y’all (y)and looking forward to sharing my experiences also. Thanks peeps!

Looks great!
How tall are you and how does the XL sizing feel? Does the seat tube length feel long at all?
I'm 188cm and am expecting my 2021 9.7 XL in a couple months.
The large felt way too small for me, but i wasn't able to put my leg over an XL.

I’ve got the same bike in medium. If you are wanting to protect it, focus on rear triangle lower arms which scuff quickly from shoes and the rear triangle pivot bridge over the tyre, the paint chips quickly here.

Gorgeous bike, such a sweet colourway! It's well worth waiting for your invisiframe kit before riding, I did the same on my Rail (2020). as quertycube said, chainstays do scuff from your shoes, even with the invisiframe I can see scuff marks, I'm planning on putting a bit of helitape on as well just for some extra protection.

Thanks for the info, I’ll probably balls up putting on the invisiframe (have enough trouble putting on a screen protector). Once it’s done that’ll be enough for me regarding protection, the rest will be trying to protect myself from the trails.

Cheers Philly, the dry run will be my rail 9 before hopefully doing a better job on the wife’s rail 7 which we also got today.

I’m also 188cm and tried the large which was a tad too small for me. I think you’ll find the XL size way better suited for you. Yes it’s a little unwieldy to get your leg over but once your sat on the saddle the XL fits like a glove.

It can be tricky to apply, just take your time and don't try to do too much at once. Mine certainly isn't perfect, there are small air bubbles here and there. Overall it looks OK. Putting an extra bit of baby shampoo in your spray bottle gives you extra time . For me much of the time was in preparation, partially stripping down the bike, and then identifying which piece goes where , there's quite a few smaller intricate bits in the kit. You'll need to take the chainring off, so you'll need the special tool for the lockring (y)

Thanks for the info, hadn’t realised I need to take the chainring off. The invisiframe kit arrives tomorrow and I’ll head back to the bike shop to get the chain tool (didn’t want to go back so soon for the lure of upgrades) Been thinking about getting a Parktools stand but will probably end up trying to do it with the bike upside down. There was me thinking I’d be riding this weekend :)

There's a couple of small pieces that go on the chainstay and around the motor mount, that you can't get to with the chainring on. Hope it all goes smoothly for you, nothing worse than working on your bike when all you want to do is ride. (y)That's where I'm at today, perfect day for a ride but I'm stuck trying to stop my front brake from howling
