Hi, Newbie from bay area with question?

What are you guys using mostly with the Levo? I am wondering if the Garmin Edge 520 is a good alternative to my iPhone running mission control on it. Other than adjusting the settings on the bike mission control has no turn by turn GPS directions. I bought the BLevo app but it too doesn't seem to have GPS mapping where I can find my way with the directions. Infinite tune is nice on mission control, but thats in BLevo too. Is there an app with everything the bike outputs that includes GPS directions? I was trying to use WAZE but it doesn't have the trail map. It wants to take me to a bike path and I actually want to stay off road.

im using the edge 1030. Also use blevo on bars. the 1030 allows me to map my rides or create a ride that i can follow.

I have mission control & if I use the lets ride it shows me where I have been. I have an Edge 520 but don't use it anymore. I never ever got it to hook up to my Levo about the only thing I ever used was the speed read out, the GPS map nothing like you have in a car. I'll sell mine. but mission control works great for me.

If anyone is in the US try the REI MTB Project app to find Trails. Its free and got some good reviews. I found a few I didn't even know existed around here. Now I will have to try the turn by turn directions and report back. This app is free too, so whatever they can do is appreciated regardless of the quality.

Some people that have pulled the trigger on the S-works Levo will say that it’s a completely different bike that’s head and shoulders above the Expert or Carbon comp.
If that makes you feel better about spending 10k on a bike, trust me I get it.
There is only a 2lb difference between the comp carbon and the S-Works Levos.
The expert on average weighs in at a 1/2lb to just under 1lb more than the s-works.

You could make that up in just changing tires

The Expert has the same battery same motor, same cranks and same suspension.

Guess what? they both go the same speed

The 11m frame and carbon stays vs the 9m gram with alloy stays weight difference is like shaving your eyebrows to lose weight.

The ride quality is so minute that it’s hard to justify spending $2000 more on the S-works where the biggest differences are the hubs, derailleur, shifter and handlebar.

Which are things most people are going to change over the course of owning the bike anyway

I am a dealer and I own an S-Works and I have to say that the differences are so slight that I would just save my money.
My favorite Levo to ride is my 17 expert alloy and it weighs 43 lbs which is lighter than an Sworks and didn’t cost me $2000 to do it

Another honest opinion is i love the s-works i have. But to be fair i only demoed a comp fsr, and did not like both the way it handled and the brakes. The s-works is stiffer and handles so much better. Stopping power is much better on s-works. I am kinda a heavy guy at 6' 205lbs so i am not happy with rear suspension on s-works. still trying to dial it in but it does not hook up as well as i think it can. might switch to a coil. i would have bought the expert carbon if they had that in stock but all that was there was the s-works.

If so try Motostrano, they stock many makes and are Ebike specialists and great guys with stores in San Francisco and Redwood City, they will let you ride whatever you want to try. I purchased my Moustache Race 8 from them for $5,999 after riding Cube and Haibike models. I love my Race 8. I live in Montara and ride the mountain all the time, welcome to Ebikes!

I agree a great resource for bikes. i tried a couple from them. super nice people. Where do you ride? I live in millbrae and do water dog and boy scout trails a lot

Thanks for the input. Now that speed ..... you see I am no longer able to spin as fast as I once did when I was younger and lighter. Also coming from a Sirius carbon expert disc, I notice I need to spin a lot harder to get to my usual speed. Not looking for outright top speed mind you, just like it to be a tad faster so I can ride a reasonable speed without spinning like crazy.

Went to dealer I bought it from and they suggested a 36t chainring will do the trick. But they warned me am going to loose mountain performance. I don’t know really this thing is electric anyway. Does it loose that much torque that I’d even notice? I told them let’s guve it a shot and see. If it doesn’t feel good then I’ll just pay again to go back to stock. I am new to all this hopefully not an expensive experiment. Has anyone had this experience. I found MTB project by REI, lots of trails around the capital region (DC). No crazy mountains far as I can tell. Nothing like I used to ride in Washington state back in 99-2001 period. So I concluded I probably am ok. I’ll let you guys know my experience.

I think it’d be nice to have a tiny discrete LED on the Specialized remote to indicate power mode. Sometimes I forget the mode I am in and have beep up/down to check where I am.

Did anyone come up with a cost effective simple solution for this niggle ? It frustrates me too.

I wa thinking after i found these forums that someone will mention specialized. I like the idea of getting the components that i want like you did but i don't ride enough to worry about that. What i do like is apps and electronic stuff so does specialized have better electronics then others? How does the bosch motor compare? the cube has the bosch

Yes, Specialized has been making Pedal Assist bikes since 2009 and they seem to be the most advanced and knowledgable, the Levo Sl is a game changer. Other will quickly catch up. I am a iOS Bluetooth expert and it just worked one 1st pair and the Smart feature is very nice, but mostly been using manual to get a feel for the bike. Most importantly the Levo "feels" like a Mountain bike, totally rocks on the downhill, and very happy with my investment.
