Hi Guys looking for a bit of advise regarding my kriptotal rear tyre .

As the heading I have taken this tyre of a couple of times as could not decide on insert or no insert .on the last time trying to seat the tyre it would not pop like tubeless normally dose ,looking at the tyre I noticed a few areas of concern . What do you guys think is the tyre trashed

The tyre looks almost brand new and it looks very much like a warranty claim to me: "Bead failure".

Make sure the tyre is nice and clean and take a couple of pics of the tread and the bead area. Then contact the place you bought the tyre from. Tell them the tyre is almost new and that the bead has failed and you have pics ready to send them. You should have no problem.

Here is one I did earlier on a Continental Trail King with the black chilli compound (ie sticky)

And then again on the replacement tyre bought from a different seller in another country.

Both failed with similar mileage, and in pretty much the same place on the tyre. That says to me it is clearly a manufacturing problem.

Both were replaced without any argument, even though the tyres were obviously not as nearly new as yours. I think they knew that Conti had a problem with a batch of their tyres.

Looks to me like you've been a bit rough with the tyre leavers it doesn't look like a bead failure more the removing and replacing of the tyre
As for refitting it i wouldn't with material showing (y)

You may be correct, but there will be no harm in sending the pics and letting the experts have a look. They may agree with the "bead failure" claim, if so RESULT! If not, then the OP will have lost a few mins sending an email.

all good info and opinions i will try my luck with a claim but wont hold my breath , i have a second conti Kryptotal on at the moment and that is loosing air via the side walls so not been very successful time with CONTI TYRES so far never seem to have had an issue with Maxxis

Contis are tight but are awesome. Leave them in direct sun/heat for an hour before fitting. I've just fitted a Kryptotal front tonight in less than 10 mins start to finish (removed and Argotal), bit of soapy bubbles and a hot tyre, all good.

First thing is to check your train tracks! On every tyre I have ever used, there is a moulded line on the outside of the tyre very close to the bead. If the tyre is properly installed, that line should be the same distance from the rim all around the tyre. If the line dips under the rim or one section is further away, then it needs reseating. To reseat, let a lot of air out to leave just enough to keep the tyre on the rim. Then grip the tyre and wave the wheel around and let the weight of the wheel pull the tyre into place. Or if you have an especially strong grip just pull it into place!

If your train tracks are in line, then use a latex sealant and once the tyre is inflated give it a bloody good shake, set it to at least 30psi then stand it on a bucket or similar to get it horizontal. Leave for half an hour or so. Check the pressure and if necessary reinflate, give it another shake and leave it on the bucket the other way up. If after both sides have been stood and you have only lost a few psi, it's time to take it for a ride.

The idea is for the pressure to force the latex sealant into the sidewalls. If none of this is working then it's time for the water test. I use a water butt, but a washing up bowl or even your garden pond will do. Immerse and slowly rotate looking for a stream of bubbles. It might not be a stream, it may just be one now and again. Work your way around the whole wheel, both sides as there may be more than one leak. It could be leaking from around the valve seat, in which case try allowing the sealant to flow to that end and then flip the wheel to let the sealant settle around the valve seat and do its thing! The sealant will seal the tyre!! Have faith, it is supposed to deal with 6mm holes, so a porous sidewall should not be a challenge.

Contit ovat tiukkoja, mutta mahtavia. Anna niiden olla suorassa auringonpaisteessa/lämmössä tunnin ajan ennen asentamista. Olen juuri asentanut Kryptotal-etun tänä iltana alle 10 minuutissa alusta loppuun (poistettu ja Argotal), vähän saippuakuplia ja kuuma rengas, kaikki hyvä.
minätis often a guestion of the soulder profile of the rim. Canyou get the edge of the tire to land in the midle of the rim.
