Hi all,

After having a Scott Spark 30 stolen a while back (and not having insurance), I'm hoping to finally replace it with my first ebike using one of the cycle schemes from somewhere like Evans in Chester.

I've been looking at the Specialized Turbo Levo Comp as a do-it-all bike.
Most of my riding will be on roads, but I'd like something I can have a bit of fun with on the weekends too so I think I might need different tyres if anyone has any reccomendations?

Are the 2020 models worth the extra over the 2019 versions?
After having the scott bike which weighed about 11Kg I'm a little concerned about the extra weight.
Do the carbon versions save much?

Are the saddles any good for distance as I remember being sore after riding the scott.

I'm a complete bike noob so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated :)
Also a lock and insurance if anyone can suggest some good ones. I was looking at a kryptonite D lock with a cable?

Anyway, thanks for adding me to the forum and reading my rambling, I'm sure I'll find tons to read and I'm sure I've forgotten to ask something(s)... :)

Weight wise, for general riding about, becomes irrelevant compared to an analogue/acoustic/normal/alcohol free bike, the motor assists, so it's like riding a 2kg bike.

You'll notice the weight if you have to lift the bike and move it about. You'll definitely notice the weight if you have to ride it with a flat battery uphill and you'll notice it when you ride above the 25kph limit when the motor cuts out. But you can still press on and ride faster, it's just harder than on a normal bike, though not unbearable on the flat.

General view seems to be that the 2020 models offer much better value for money than the 2019 ones with better specifications and potentially the 700wh battery.

Though if you find a 2019 model with a decent discount, that might make it more attractive.

Saddles seem to be very much an individual thing. The one which came on my Kenevo I've actually found to be perfectly fine and not changed it .. I'd almost say comfortable .. but I might regret saying that if I ever do a longer ride ...

A lot of people don't like the butcher tyres, but I've kept mine for now and whilst they seemed slippy on my first ride, they've been fine since. If you're also road riding a lot, they have considerably less rolling resistance and less noise than something like a maxxis minion DHR/DHF combination.

This might be a bit of a daft question, but could I expect better after sales/support from somewhere like The Bike Factory or Specialized Concept Store over Evans?

Hi, Specialized can’t do enough for you if there’s a problem (it just takes forever to get things fixed)
And you have to bring the bike back to the shop you purchased it or you have to pay at your LBS and claim back.

Thanks for the replies.
The shops are all in Chester, a short train ride away from the Wirral.
Sounds like I should definitely avoid Evans though.

Unfortunately, my local bike shop only does trek and Scott bikes :(

Managed to get up to Chester to have a brief look at the Specialized 2020 Levo bikes yesterday.
They seem much bigger in person than the photos on the net, lol
There were no deals on the 2020 Levos at all. It didn't really feel like the guy was too interested in shifting the older 2019 models but there were none there to see anyway.

Can anyone tell me how the FOX 34 Rhythm on the 2019 comp carbon compares to the RockShox Lyrik Select RC 29 on the 2020 comp please?

While looking at the bikes, I didn't feel much of a difference in the RS shock while playing with the dial. Do shocks not lock out any more?

The person I spoke with was telling me a lot of people swap the RS forks for fox *shrug*

The chester concept store did have a 2019 levo comp carbon for sale in red size medium with an extra 500wh battery for 5k
They did say they price match to me last time i was there if you get a quote.
Am yet to purchase an ebike i initially got lost in the "whats the best components " dilemma.

But then i realised i am never going to test there true potential in all honesty and the 2020 comp with the larger battery would be more beneficial.

From a personal standpoint i could ride any standard of emtb and it would be an improvement over my gravel bike and my inexperience with suspension and set ups am guessing i would never know the difference if i spent more money on forks.

Good points @Dusty,
I'll probably never use the full potential of the components either.
Perhaps I should just stick with the 2020 comp for the 700wh and stop worrying about the minutiae

Just picked my Levo comp 2020 on saturday from specialised Chester as a replacement for my 2018 carbon comp expert.
2020 was miles apart in every department.

Might have another little drive up there see if i can rinse some discount from past experience there strict on prices usually.
The black one looked nice but was a finger print magnet

Thanks for the advice MitchF, but I ended up not using cyclescheme and so was able to get a 20% discount for paying in full

The new bike so far:

I love it, but I'm already thinking about upgrading the gears to Shimano with hyperglide+ tho

It's a huge change from my last bike. This was my old bike the first day i got it (excuse the messy office :p)

Part of me is kinda glad it was stolen now, lol
