Have recently upgraded from a trekking 5 with the bosch motor to the alltrack 6,have only had bike a week out on a ride the battery fell off the bike twice,took it back to dealer who said cradle was loose and tightened it up,the issue i have now is the assist seems a bit hit and miss on flat smooth surface all ok but as soon as hit uneven surfaces seems to drop in and out leaving me to think a bad connection somewhere,manager at dealer says could be the nobbly tyres so have ordered dome hybrid tyres,they also going to run a diagnosis on bike but i feel will not show anything if bike is stationary.

Thanks hope i can report back with some good news soon, taking bike in for a diagnostic check,have bought some hybrid tyres which they said as a good will gesture they will fit for free when i take bike in.

Mountain bike are meant to go over rough surfaces and vibration is a consequence of that. For the dealer to blame knobbly tyres for the vibration is absolute bollocks! All my mtbs have had knobbly tyres. Something is loose on your bike.

One thing that is free and easy to do is to play around with tyre pressures. Get the right pressure and your ride will be improved enormously vs the wrong pressure. I have attached a guide on how to find your ideal tyre pressure. It is by Pink Bike from their Tech Tuesday series. It is from 2011 but it is still pure gold. Read the words, watch the video.

Thanks for the info steve but at the moment am more about distance and soft trails trying to lose some extra weight so have gone for some hybrid tyres,could not trust the nobblies on tarmac few times nearly lost front wheel.

So got to bottom of problem they had set up the motor etc for 27.5 inch wheels i have the 29 inch wheels,rides like a dream now,only thing not happy with is once you reach 16 mph when assist cuts out still feels like its gone into brake and you have to put real effort into it to get above and beyond

I do not understand how changing the motor settings will stop the battery from falling out!

Regarding battery the mechanic admitted it was his fault when first setting up the bike he didnt check the battery carriage which was found to be loose,regarding tyres i changed the tyres for some hybrid ones as could not trust the nobblys for riding iam doing.

I think the LBS set my motor to ‘danger level’, which is probably why I go OTB so much but I have less peddle strikes.

My neighbour recently had the motor cutoff issue. Turned out to be the battery. Trek replaced it even though the warranty was expired.
