Hi everybody.
I'm considering joining the e mtb community and am enjoying browsing the current excellent selection of bikes available. I'll mainly be using it for training for enduro racing as I'll be living on the door steps of Aston hill and the Chiltern, rideable from home in 5 mins. I can see that I'll just get so much more gravity time and that will help me training for racing. I'm wondering about the choice between something like the yt decoy or the propain ekano with the internal battery or something like the spectral on where I could carry two batteries. Would you trade range over the internal battery? With the yt or propain as an example, would I be able to get a decent days riding out of this or is a spare battery the way to go? I'd happily buy a spare but can't seem to see where I could get spares for either of those bikes. Am I worrying too much about battery range?
Thanks

Just my opinion but I think there's a lot of merit in getting something you can easily get a spare battery for, which is fairly easy to swap over. Given you are only 5 mins away from the trails, you could do the first loop, swap the battery at home then go for the second ? If the second battery is carryable you could take that for a massive extended single ride.

A good ol' 500Wh battery gets you a long way, and is enough for 90% of my riding. But it's not a whole day in the hills.

When I've taken my Cube or hired a Pivot for a day thrashing on the Long Mynd, I usually get 40 miles out of a 500Wh battery. Note: I am 95KG so, YMMV.

I have done several day-long road/gravel rides using the 500Wh battery in the Cube, and can easily get 70+ miles on a single charge. Still need a bit more juice for a full day, so I pack a charger and top-up during lunch.

For my next bike, it's gotta be 600-700Wh battery for me. If you think you're going to carry a second battery in a backpack, I suggest you try one for size first. They are bulky and heavy!

Interesting answers there guys. I think give the closeness of the trails a 500w battery and a spare, so something like the spectral on with the spare battery deal they do is good although I do like the gravity capability of the decoy and the ekano. I have a thing for propain as I already own a spindrift but they are using the newest shimano battery and I doesn't look like I could buy a spare yet and it's not a small battery either. I'm certain in the future they'll bring our bigger replacement batteries though hey. Maybe go with the 504wh one now and upgrade later? I like the thought of big days out though as well so I'm in a bit of a confusing situation.

I think Thok are doing a deal on the Mig R until September 15th where you get a free second battery.
