The power up button & shuttle mode button were attacked by my parrot leaving the internals exposed. I dont really ride in the rain or wet conditions but am concerned with water/moisture getting in there.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to live with this for a while before having to purchase a new unit?

Wau....awfull bird !

Well..you can use the TCU and press the Turbo button on top, and then use the minus button on the bar to go down.
And tape the open contacts to avoid further damage.

Try some shoe goo over them. If it doesn't work you probably will have to replace it. But the chances are your bird might like that even better
