New here. After many years of regular MTB-ing I'm looking to get my first proper eMTB. I say proper as I made a home brew version earlier this year:
Q&A related to this bike.
- It's a Commencal Meta 5 (2011 I think)
- Made from old 26-er bits n pieces (yes, the fork is too long for the frame)
- Motor is a Tongsheng 500W torque-sensing thing (battery lives in a rucksack)
- It works! I mean, it's reasonably fast/powerful, and means I have a sub £1000 full-sus eMTB
- It's not 'great' to ride. The geometry is a bit off (fork length), the cranks tend to loosen/creak, and I can't be arsed to install the open source firmware on the motor
So I'm in the market for a new ride - the subject of another post...!
