Hi,

I might be in my fifties, but I feel like a kid at Christmas! One more sleep till new bike day!

I only found this brilliant forum the other day, I wish I'd seen it months ago when I started looking for an e-bike.

I've spent months researching and trying to pick which bike would best suit my needs; I have to say I Rob's YouTube videos so informative and helpful - Thanks Rob!

After a couple of months, I decided I 'needed' a Turbo Levo, thats when the fun started. Which one could I afford? which one was best? which offered best value? which one did I 'actually need'.... During this time the 2020 models were launched, confusing things even more. One positive of the new models is that the 2019 models are reduced, great, but doesn't help me pick one though.

Over a few weeks I became even more OCD than usual, checking prices every day, looking for the best deal. with the Comp and Comp Carbon reduced by £1000 and the Expert by almost £1500 the decision should be easier to make, but hold on a minute, aren't the 2020 models better specced? Oh and now there's an offer of a free extra battery on a Carbon Comp at £5300. My head is going to explode!

Then I found it, a large, blue Carbon Comp under £4000? sounds too good to be true, but it's on a major Specialized retailer site - Click Buy - Click Pay Now. 30 seconds later an email saying the bike will be delivered on Wednesday 6th November. Can't wait!

The following day I check the my order on the website and all is in order. Turns out the bike was on their early Black Friday deals so I must have seen it before mail-shots went out. Out of stock now of course, Lucky me. Monday arrives and I get an email saying sorry we can't get your Turbo Levo, they've all gone. Thats when things kicked off - The bikes were in stock online when I bought one, and then went out of stock when other people bought them - its that simple - If anything is out of stock, I can't buy it, the system says no stock. So after a few hours of going back and forth, they managed to find one and it's coming Tomorrow! To be fair to the retailer, they have come up trumps and I can't fault their customer service.

So now the fun starts, I'll need to set it up and check all the updates have been done. I can see there's a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm here and hope your willing to help a newbie out.

I've not had a bike, let alone an e-bike since the 90's so it's all a bit overwhelming. I'll post some questions in the correct section and hope I'll get some responses.

I hope I haven't gone on too much, and can't wait to get the bike sorted and start riding as well as being part of this community.

Thanks for reading!

Ha ha. I recently went from “want” to “need” and ended up too with a comp carbon which I’ve had now for a few weeks now. Enjoy the learning curve!!

Thanks Wheelie_King, I've just hand an email with tracking number - I can't believe their warehouse is 10 miles away!

I'm looking at an Invisiframe to keep the frame looking good - where will it end?

They get "sold" when people put them in their shopping trolley. So you get told it's sold. Then they have second thoughts and one come back into stock. Happy you.

But if they confirm that the bike has been sold to you, then they should be bloody certain! As far as I'm concerned taking your money, confirming the sale, and the provision of a delivery date all say that a contract has been made. They should be forced to deliver, even if they have to pay more to buy one elsewhere.

I'm sure thats what happened Steve - even though they tried to convince me otherwise. Probably less that 2 minutes from seeing it in stock, adding to basket and paying.

They must have known they were on a sticky wicket having taken payment and provided a delivery date. Still, it worked out in the end, three call and questioning the legality of advising something is in stock, taking payment and providing a delivery date must be some form of legal contract. They'd found one by Tuesday, delivered to them today and out to me for tomorrow.

Not the easiest purchase i've made, but worth it in the end.
