Hi folks,
i just stepped over this forum from a recent review of the new Scott Genius from Rob.
I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit and give you a hint, of what I use my bike mostly and special cases.
When I was younger, i used my bike- as many childs do- for just getting around all areas and places. Looking back, i had a solid reach of different bikes, but i never was a technical or trick guy, mostly just riding for fun and looking around the area.
Around 7 years ago, i needed a good vacation and so I asked my friends about, where to go for a trip with my bike for lets say- tourist attractions. I like camping, and after I thought through, i got myself a trailer and so I landed in the now known backpacker thing.
I knew about technical stuff, but never really thought of it (my last bike was no big deal) but had a few nice years and holidays with it.
Here is a pic of one of my first holiday tours.
Over the years, i had a lot of fun, riding bike roads, through wood streets/ trails and quite "normal" stuff. Particularly in hot summer days it was a little harder, getting around with trailer and a bunch of stuff coming uphills. That was the moment, were E-Bikes were just getting around. So i thought, that could be it, to make it easier riding all your stuff around the hills. At the start, i always had those typical first "cheater" thoughts (and also most designs were more for senior people) but that turned with the arrival of E-MTB. I got in the theme, read a lot, got in touch with the technical specs and then i was blazed by the Turbo look: E-Bike with the mostly "normal" design of an MTB.
After getting my hands on a ride, i was a total believer in the tech.
1 years now backpacking with my trailer and my E-Bike i am now trying to get in the basic of technically Trail riding. With my Turbo I have the right equipment, to get where I want, when I want and travel up ways, where I would have never thought of driving there on my old bike. One thing about travelling i experienced, is the further range. A daily tour reach of 170km is possible, depends on the up/down and the streets/ways. And bike riding is always fun. No search for parking lot, can make a break nearly everywhere and enjoy the sight.
My actual set up (for touring):
Specialised Levo Turbo Expert with B.O.B. Ibex trailer
I am no beginner with my skills-
but practising and progressing is one of my goals. Now I have a bike for getting into trails and technique stuff and that is what I want to do.
On my trips, i had such nice meetings with other people- with and without bikes.
I`d love to meet more and have a nice chat.
