Headset for Levo

Having problems with upper headset on Levo FSR Alu2018. Bearing seems OK but still have a play. I have bearing-"adapter"-cap. Should there be a washer also like the one in the upper right corner on this pic? (not specifically Levo headset on pic, just a pic I found online).

Should be a split washer and bearing bottom and a bearing and split washer top with a cover cap.
Mine kept getting play, so replaced the star fangled nut in the fork and problem solved.

Ok, so I an not missing a thin washer under cover cap then?

Do you mean you replaced the star nut inside the fork? That is not mine problem must be something else.

If your bearings are not worn and loose feeling then you are not getting enough load on the bearings and it will present as play in the headset.
By tightening the centre cap Allen bolt you should be able to take the play out of the whole headset. Either the bearings are junk or the star nut is not grabbing inside the fork, and therefore you are not getting the required pre load on the bearings.
Also, you can tighten it all down and it will seem ok, then ride, and it all comes loose.
I’d defiantly change out the star nut to rule it out. It will cost you less than a fiver.
