So where is this firmware? Is it coming out same time as the new screen?
Do we have any leaks about the new screen? I found this on YouTube...

Don't worry about Bosch who have a huge market share currently. What I'm really interested in is what is Shimano doing? They have lost huge OEM support for their ebike systems over the last 2 years.

Will they try and compete or flag the whole motor game and focus on their usual parts? Its amazing a company with Shimano's cycling history lies where they are now.

Yeah the number of brands that have gone away from Shimano motors is wild!
The EP801 update made the motor competitve, so why did everyone start moving away? Something they haven't told anyone but the OEM's?

Smaller batteries, dated display tech, rattly motors- they never really got that much closer to the competition.

Market wanted Bosch, so brands started moving that way.

Rob, do you think they will flag the motor race with the likes of DJI, TQ etc now producing better quality products?

I would have thought with Shimano's rich history they should be able to compete with the likes of Bosch/DJI/Brose/Sram etc

I think that Shimano, whilst generally making good products, are not at the bleeding edge of any bike tech.

Wireless drivetrains, general product innovation and e-systems seem to be released at super slow schedules.

Their current lineup is also pretty confusing.

I just think they are suffering from a dogmatic approach to bike trends and industry innovation.

Shimano has very long product lifecycles. In somes cases up to 10 years (Shimano Saint). So worst case, you might see a new motor from them around 2030.

So totally agree that Bosch is not missing any trick. Quite the contrary. They released a new motor couple of months ago with top tube display and power upgrade in the pipeline, and are a clear market leader with respected brands like Santa Cruz hopping aboard.

I think you proved the opposite. They have missed a trick - people are buying Amflows because of the power differential and the best display on the market, precisely because Bosch hasn’t made been competitive in either space. The same argument hoes for the new Levo.

% of the emtb market taken by Amflow? Probably too small to quantify. Number of leading brands using DJI motor etc....1? A few early adopters on the forum is all you are seeing.

I am one of them. I’ve owned 5 Specialized emtbs and two Bosch. The Amflow is a great bike, very customizable. Similar to a Levo.

I bought my Amflow from one of the several Amflow dealers in Sydney. They told me they were selling about 8-10 a week, and they’re in the middle of nowhere. I’m quite sure no shop in Sydney is selling that volume.

The overall percentage of the market for Amflow is obviously small. But I’d say percentage of sales in the past two months is more than competitive.

The Amflow is an unproven chinese frame design and if it wasn't bolted to the DJI motor no-one would even look at it. Comparing Amflow to respected brands like Specialized and Santa Cruz is like comparing SangYong to Porsche, if using a car analogy. I do understand that people want to buy it because the DJI motor seems to be great product, but I think that a reality check needs to be done on the bike itself.

In three months all these comments about DJI will be funny to look back on. The new Levo and the Bosch GEN 5 will both have just as much power but more useable and adjustable and sitting in much better frames.
