have they gone nuts, $6300 for this bike in alloy frame. No suspension at all, no wow brakes, Microshift shifters. Honestly how can they justify this price

Specialized will sell their bikes for what they think they can sell them for, not what you think they're worth. Just what people are willing to pay. This is a business. In a world with growing demand for ebikes and shrinking supply of parts they're maximising profit, which is what successful companies do. Ferrari make expensive cars. Leica make expensive cameras. Specialized make expensive bikes. It is what it is. If you don't have the money you don't get to play. No it's not fair. A free market never is.

Sure, there will be threads whinging and whining about how bikes are too expensive but if Specialized sell out a run they'll surely think they're not expensive enough. They're not in this for you. They're in this to make a product that sells for a profit. Specialized aren't the only company doing this and bikes aren't the only industry seeing the same trends.

Now that the website has settled down the price is not ridiculous (just outrageous) at $4000 for the 4.0. That is not the big issue! The real kicker is I weighed our 2019 Como 3.0 at 47 lb, the "SL" is about a pound less with half the power. What is "SL" about this bike? Sure, it's a nice bike with no chain/derailleur but isn't a SL model supposed to be 10-15 lb lighter than the others?

If it were truly SL we would be interested in trading up but not like it is.

I recently had a chat with a guy who owns a factory,he said if production is running constantly above 85% they put the prices up.I don think we will see many end of year bargains any time soon.
