I'm badly missing my stolen Rocky Mtn Altitude PP (my first emtb) so am going to buy another emtb to keep me entertained whilst otherwise having fun is banned. There's no real option to go kick some tyres and take test rides with a pandemic on so I'm just going to take a punt... and that punt is going to be on either a Specialized Kenevo Expert or the YT Decoy elite thats coming out in a few weeks. My heart is drawn to the YT, but the Kenevo does seem like it would be the more sensible choice. It looks like Specialised emtbs hold their value very well on eBay, bike forums, etc.. Levos seem to hold value especially well but seeing as the new Kenevo is getting much better reviews than the last one and is fresh this year I'm guessing (hoping?) that it'd hold its value well too.... thoughts?
Anyway, on that^ basis, if I buy a Kenevo but then get my leg over a Decoy post pandemic and find I much prefer the Decoy then it doesn't look like I'd lose too much money selling the Kenevo and then buying a Decoy. However, I've no idea of what the hit might be the other way around. YT's are much rarer so what would you guys guess would be a discount off new for a used Decoy Elite which is, say, 3 or 12 months old and presuming it had been kept in good condition? If you've any suggestions or, even better, direct experience in prices of new Decoys vs sold prices of used ones that you could share, it'd be much appreciated.
BTW, I largely ride up just to come back down and I'm heavy; almost 100Kg now, courtesy of COVID and lack of bike. Consequently a 38mm or triple clamp fork based suspension setup is a plus to me. I loved the Rocky I had as it seemed remarkable agile for such a big, heavy bike. It reads from review like the YT is going to feel more agile and playful than the new Kenevo (?). The geometry for size larges are close between the YT and the Rocky too (given changes in suspension travel). Given the current lack of things to go and do on holiday, I expect I'll be making a bunch of trips to bike parks in the UK where I can push myself more... figure these two bikes in particular are more likely to save me from myself when the terrain gets tough!
