Hey all
I wanted to share this experience with you. Firstly I have a 2021 Giant Revolt E+ and have done 2500kms, a 2020 Merida E160 10k with 4000kms and retrofitted an EP800 and done 500kms on it. Both bikes have been faultless apart from an issue with Merida in 2021 where it turned off. It was resolved by adjusting the battery mount. I also have a Giant Anthem Adv Pro 0 with Fox Live valve with no issues. I've owned a Giant Anthem 29 alloy, Defy Advanced, Fastroad and old XTC2, so I support the brand. Back in 2020, if it wasn't for 27.5 wheels and alloy frames, I would have bought a Trance E in 2020.

Anyways, last year, I bought a Giant Trance X Adv E+1 (2023) Airglow. 28% discount so couldn't complain. After 3 months of ownership and about 450kms, on an urban ride with my friend, the bike auto turned off. After a meal, we were heading home I attempted to turn on the bike and the 3 left buttons on the RideControlGo lit up and went dead. I tried to start it to no avail.

Out of fear of riding a long way home, I thought I would try and start the bike whilst in motion. I then pressed the Power button and the bike turned on and I rode home with power assistance.

When I got home I turned the bike off and tried to turn on again and it would not start. However, I rode and it started it whilst riding again. Later on I attempted to start the bike with the Power button and no lights came on.

So off to an authorised Giant dealer. They ran diagnostic and found Error 21 occurred (motor communication failure). Updated bike software and recalibrated torque and incline sensor. Tested it and said it was OK. Since I didn't buy from them they charged me $44 and advised if the error persists, take it back to selling dealer.

So I go for a short ride again when I got the bike and error occurred. Also something funny happened. On my Garmin 830 Edge, it popped up an error 'Ebike battery sensor low'. The Trance battery was about 80% and Edge had heaps of juice left. That was a bit puzzling.

Anyways this week I took it to the dealer on Monday morning. I didn't hear anything from them until Thursday, so I thought I would reach out to them. They advised they had contacted Giant Australia Head Office and ebike person was away this week and will advise me.

I suspect perhaps they ran the diagnostics and couldn't work out the issue. When droppiung the bike off they advised it could be a crimped wire or something? I have seen some people advise on this forum that some bikes cannot be fixed and Giant have offered an exchange.
Anyways, I let the bike shop know this issue is not fit for purpose and I have concerns about being stranded again. Thankfully I provided detailed videos of the issue occuring, so they cannot say it is an intermittent error.

I also flagged with them that if this cannot be resolved, I am amendable to buying a Giant Trance X Adv Elite Pro 0 (2022 Mirage black) plus extra cash.

So has anyone had an experience like this before?
