Don't Giant have a custom tune on the yam motors? My understanding is that their Yamaha motor/Panasonic battery package is unique to them.
Yes, they do. They tune engine and battery. I can't tell in regards of the battery and the range but I had a chance to ride on normal Yamaha PWX on Haibike vs my Sync Drive and difference was very noticeable. Engagement on normal Yamaha was much more hectic and it tends to provide way more power than I needed for uphill throwing me out of the saddle. Not sure if that's torque detection on the specific bike I rode but I prefer Giant tune more.

No i meant the yamaha motor in the Giants is different to those in other bikes, because it has been customised by Giant, a bit like Specialised do wit the Brose motor. I know the settings can be customised by the App

A slightly pedantic point, but you can't "tune" a battery. The BMS manages the charging and balancing of cells in the pack whilst the charger is connected, but in use it's not doing anything other than monitoring the voltages to ensure the pack is not overdischarged.

It's the motor wind that gives the Kv (RPM per Volt applied at zero load). A combination of the Kv, internal gearing and (probably most importantly) the motor management software defines the riders experience of the powertrain in use. Easy way to remember this is that the characteristics of the motor and software define the load that the powertrain is pulling from the battery - a battery does not "push" current towards the motor.

Thanks for in deep explanation @MattyB. My guess was that Giant works with Panasonic in regards to the battery design or how BMS handles charging and balancing. Warranty on Giant and Specialized batteries are drastically different (at least in PL) and estimated lifetime on Spec is about half of what Giant suggest for theirs. Probably due to the density of the cells in the actual battery.

The BMS is pretty much irrelevant to performance - that's very basic software that is specific to the chemistry of battery in use, but is well understood and incorporated in millions of consumer devices produced worldwide. All it does is define the cut-off and minimum voltages for the packs during charging and discharging and balance the cells in the last quarter of the charge. It also monitors the internal battery temperature in case of an overheat, but again that is very basic stuff.

The physical design of the pack will have performance impact though. The density of the cells, the physical design of the overall pack wrt airflow and the way it attaches to the frame all affect the way heat is dissipated. If heat dissipation is poor then it will accelerate damage to the pack over time. That is one of the reasons do not like the new Levo's design; aesthetically pleasing it may be, but cooling that pack effectively in an entirely enclosed space is a bigger design challenge (not to mention the fact that carrying a spare pack is way harder because of the shape).

Just got mine E+ 2 days ago. It's an absolutely amazing machine. Tested Levos too and decided to go for Giant.

I also ordered 180 mm shaft for my Fox 36 so I'm going to make it even more aggressive than SX with the angle around 65.5

For people asking about delivery times. I ordered mine at 35 and got it on 39 thanks to my amazing bike shop. Right now if you order it in PL your delivery time is 16 next year.

Did 2 rides so far and I'm super impressed. I was testing Giant and Spec ebikes every year since 2015 and decided that now is the good time for purchase and it was spot on. It's not as light as Spec which I don't mind but dammmmmm this geo gets work done.

Hi Mate, i was planning to get an Trance E+ 2 ..saw your post which makes me more confident to get one. Was considering between the Trance E+ 2 and the Turbo Levo 2019 model.

Did you ever measure the weight on your Trance E+ 2? i know the weight its not that major concern points but i still curious to know the weight of the Trance E+ 2..Hopefully you can help me on this.
Thanks in advance.

Go for it! Definitely worth the money. I was expecting it to ride like a Trance but I have to say in regards to downhill it's much closer in behavior to Reign and I love it!

My bike clean without pedals is 23,7 kg size L yet for some reason it's easier for me to pull the front up than on my normal trance. Fox 36 is doing a great job.

Thanks mate. Will probably take your advice and go for Trance E+ 2 as there is a price gap between the Turbo Levo.

Is this Trance E+ 2 can be connected to apps that is available on Android phone or it's a dead setting with just the RideControl ONE remote?

I was considering Levo too but ratio price/perks was not good enough for me. Then I read the warranty on battery on Specialized models and Giant. Take a look for yourself and decided if you want better looks on thin downtube or much better cell life.

I have it set up with the app and it works like charm. There is a limited customization you can do but it's working without a hitch. Tested on Android and iOS.

I dont mind the bigger downtube honestly, of course prefer the better battery cell life span.
What is the difference among them?? appreciate if you can just brief me since you owned Trance and surely made a lot review before getting it.

looks like im going to place my order tomorrow for the Trance E+ 2 tomorrow and ETA would be early November. Cheers!

Based on what I was able to find Specialized is super sexy but they had to put those batteries very close together and those cells don't like to be hot as it's affecting their lifetime. Giant put extra space between them to prolong their lifespan. Not sure how big a difference that actually makes. When I read warranty docs in PL Spec was giving 6 months on battery and claimed 75% after 300 cycles. Giant on 2019 lineup has 75% after 500 so I went with Giant.

That was one of my first rides. I ended up having 34% battery and blisters on my hands :D

I would say first 10 on Eco and rest was mixed with last 10 done full on the turbo (250).

I had it tuned on the first day so my 1st gear is 50% of 360 and I'm using it I would say 30% of the time.
2nd gear I set for 125% and it's my main gear :D Use if for climbing/bumpy flats/trails.
3rd one if I'm lazy 175% and it supports higher cadence so good for very steep hills.
4th for 250 and I use it on super steep hills.
5th 360% and honestly I don't like using it. Tom much power. It's like someone pushing you really hard in a second. Very hard to control. Maybe once I'll get used to pedaling in proper rhythm instead of strong pushes.

For the app you can find everything here:

I did and washed from mud after. All water "flows" through the bike. Instead of making it waterproof they constructed it like the gutter.

noted.. when u receive this bike, does it comes with any Giant freebies? pump etc?
Nothing beside some bell and other stuff which is useless but required by regulations.

This was quite surprising :-o

It's heavy because it also contains bottom part of the frame I guess :D

For everyone worried about range, I did some testing today.

Everything on my 1st level support which is enough for me and mostly flat terrain. Based on that usage I can do moderate trail riding for 200 km. I weight 94 kg just for reference.

It's useless without bike :) You'll be able to create an account and that's it.
Dear Furey, i would like to have your help measuring what max length of a water bottle can be use if with the bottle cage install?,
looks like only pretty short bottle can be use with the gap clearance.
did u use bottle cage?

Ok, so the first thing you need is not usual bottle cage. Most of the bottle cages I tried to start quite high reducing already small bottle clearance.

From my experience the best you can get is:
http://www.zefal.com/en/bottle-cages-thermoplastic/67-wiiz.html

It starts about 2 cm lower than most of the bottle cages and has side reach. The grip is firm and I never lost a bottle with it. I have it on all my bikes.

And with that specific bottle cage the longest bottle I'm using:
Podium 24 oz Water Bottle — CamelBak

Good choice :) I ride almost 50km through deep woods every day since I got it. Previously I had to finish at 25 with my knee hurting. No issue with that beast and i always have 20% battery left.

Let us know you like it once you get it!

It's Large. Sadly the problem with bottle cage is inherited because of SX Coil which takes more space and since they are using same frame for SX and E+ we have that pickle to solve :)
