Giant Ride Control One - Garmin Belt HRM Model 1G

I need help.
My e-mtb is a 2019 Giant Trance +1 pro and the Ride Control One seems to be working fine.
I purchased a new Garmin (belt type) HRM Model 1G about a year ago. Ant+
Try as I may, I can't get it paired up to the Ride Control Ap on my iPhone 6S, neither can I get it paired up with the Strava Ap on my phone.
I am starting to wonder if the Garmin HRM is faulty! I have tried two new batteries with no success.
Would really appreciate any help.

It does sound faulty if neither can pick ip the strap. I have said strap and it is linked to my garmin watch.
