Giant Reign E+ cold weather issues

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is ride an ebike in the snow, and generally when it's several degrees (F) below freezing so that the ground is hard/fast at my local trails. I was out riding my Reign e+ this afternoon in 20F temps, and the battery suddenly died presumably because of the temperature.

Anyone had issues with their Giant batteries (or any brand for that matter) dying in the cold? I had a Shimano equipped bike previously and had no issues riding it in similar temperatures. Anyone found a work around to keep them warm? Thanks

I’ve ridden on 2 different batteries on my Trance in -25 Celsius (-13 Fahrenheit) several times without issues. I avoid stopping for more than a couple of minutes at a time though, because I understand the BMS is supposed to shut the battery down once it’s internal temperature goes below -20C.

I doubt that the neoprene downtube sleeves help much at all with retaining battery heat, as the aluminum frame would just rapidly conduct the heat away to other exposed parts of the frame. But figure it can’t hurt, and it helps keep crud off the frame, so I sometimes use one anyways. Might help a tiny bit on a carbon frame.

That kind of temperatures shouldn't be any problem to the battery, maybe there's some other problem or the battery is faulty? I had just my 8 months old Shimano battery replaced because it started give error code E914 after first cold ride (-10 celsius) Never had issues with Specialized or Bosch batteries. Though Specialized battery died after I sold the bike ...

Little update here. It’s not the battery. I tested mine off the bike and it is holding a charge. I then borrow a friend’s battery and the bike still won’t turn on. I messed around with the battery cradle to make sure that wasn’t an issue and it seems to be fine. I haven’t taken it to a dealer yet to perform a diagnostic but my guess is the controller failed (from research I’ve been doing). I did see that there is a company out of Australia that makes a model specific diagnostic tool. Anyone have experience with these? If my assumption is correct, the controllers are around $100 usd.

UPDATE. Ordered an Ergo 3 controller from a vendor in Europe. Installed this on the bike pretty confident it was the issue and it still won't turn on. Next step is actually doing/having a diagnostic done to determine the issue. I really only have experience with Shimano ebike systems up until owning this bike. Does anyone know if programming needs to happen if you install a new controller? I was hoping if that was the issue, it would be a plug and play type of thing.
