Some of you might have seen that I recently bought a new Kenevo Expert and stripped off all parts to build up a custom spec to my liking. You can’t buy a frameset from Spesh (full fat Kenevo) which is a shame.

I have a massive parts bin now that is just sitting there, including dual crown forks, wheelset, the lot!

Plan was to put them into storage until I wanted to move the Kenevo on or maybe sell them all.

However I have just been thinking about buying an EMTB frameset and building another bike with these parts.

Problem is I can’t seem to find any frames. It would need to be a long travel Enduro type bike. So was looking for Kenevo/Bullit type of frames.

What’s your thoughts - stupid idea!?

This is what came with the Expert (that is now completely stripped).

I had a similar idea, but other than specialised trying to sell you frames for 5k, not much options.

Even second hand I couldn't find anyone selling frame only.

A better bet might be to just chuck them onto a second hand freeride/mini-dh bike for shuttle/lift days. Those can be found relatively easily.

I already built an Enduro recently

Well loads of people say they want frame only, buy I've have one (Whyte e150) listed on a few bike sites for the last two weeks and had no replies. Maybe just not what anybody wants or very few people actually want frame only.

I sold my frame only Gen 1 Levo SL within a couple of weeks of listing it. Put it on eBay at £2250 or best offer. Rejected a few lower offers of £1500-1800, and the next morning someone had paid full price.

If you don’t mind importing I have mate in the US that will sell any of his bikes as frame only. He’s a dealer for Yeti, Pivot, Ibis and Revel. Just to give you an idea, he sells the Yeti 160e turq frame for $5200 or a frame/fork for $6k.

EBay is my next stop once I get a reduced fee offer.

The lack of frame/ motor e-bike combos sucks quite frankly.

I decided I wanted the Relay and had to pay nearly $9K for the frame I wanted and a bunch of crap parts that I got about $1700 for in total, making my frame only cost quite high.

The good thing is that because of this, up to date frame only e-bikes seem to go for pretty high amounts used.

However you do have a handful of options and they aren't terrible. Fezzari, Spesh, Forestal & several Alibaba brands can all sell you something in this space.

I wish there were more emtb framesets offered.

But stripping the bike and saving the components for when it's time to sell the bike might not be a bad idea. Then you can transfer your high end parts to the next bike. So maybe buy the lowest spec bike and swap components.

I just don't know if selling a used bike with new components will increase the second hand value much.

Frame only options are crazy money 7k originally for Specialized, Pole is also expensive as they get better deal selling as complete bike! I bought my M20 Rise then sold most of the parts as I had a parts bin already for the bike

They do
Personally thou they have a look only a mother could love :)
They may be Polarizing to some people, but they look great in person, and they ride even better. I‘m on my second Voima and they’re the best bike I’ve ever ridden by a huge margin. I think it’s the best climbing and descending ebike made.

Yep, all parts are now boxed and stored away. I didn’t see value in a new frame. I’ll keep if I ever decide to sell the Kenevo (probably not because my new build is amazing).
