Did this happen on your bike?Well the flakey bit is clearcoat..........the bigger separated part looks like filler.
No....I dont buy carbon framed bikes but my windsurf boards, masts, and booms are all 100% carbon.Did this happen on your bike?
They are not "100% carbon"No....I dont buy carbon framed bikes but my windsurf boards, masts, and booms are all 100% carbon.
yep............except the paintThey are not "100% carbon"
So not "100% carbon" after all ...yep............except the paint
North/Duotone Platinum 100% carbon mast
North/ Duotone Platinum 100% boom
Starboard Isonic Carbon Reflex
...and the fact that 100% carbon mat either UD or matrix is specified plus the grade of carbon fibre (e.g T600/T800used , construction method and resin used ( e.g sentex) ... whilst I have yet to see any spec for bikes with carbon frames.
now you are just being silly.....100% carbon for any composite means that the entire composite consists of carbon fibre mat ie no other laminate such as glass, kevlar, australian pine, bamboo etc ...mast and booms are pre preg and oven cured so absolute minimum of resin and far less than wet layup..........boards are wet lay up and then vacuum packed to draw out any excess resin. Anyway...back to bikesSo not "100% carbon" after all ...
Unsurprisingly what is not specified by Duotone is how much by weight is carbon fibre and how much by weight is resin.
We were vacuum bagging boards in the 90's and mucking around with Tuttle boxes, but yeah, back to bikes.now you are just being silly.....100% carbon for any composite means that the entire composite consists of carbon fibre mat ie no other laminate such as glass, kevlar, australian pine, bamboo etc ...mast and booms are pre preg and oven cured so absolute minimum of resin and far less than wet layup..........boards are wet lay up and then vacuum packed to draw out any excess resin. Damn - it must be. Looking at yours, my gaps are way off. Arg! Maybe a big impact caused this…who knows. Is your "motor armor" bent from impacts which caused it to contact the frame? Mine isn't touching there but it's smashed underneath from rocks. So I'm starting to build a stronger version than the stock wimpy aluminum one.
