Fox Float X2 Tuning guide has the Compression at 2-4 clicks from closed. I know 11 clicks vs 2-4 clicks is a big difference.

My question is what are others finding out with the rear compression settings on their X2 shock? Are they closer to the Specialized setting or Fox settings?

I will probably have to connect up the ShockWiz to know for sure.

Don’t worry about what the recommendations from either chart and set it to your liking. The only way to get a good setting for you is to go through the process of riding and changing the settings to your preference. This way you also learn what it feels like when something is changed.

I ended up here on my
factory X2 but have no idea if they are close to Fox or Specialized recommendations.

Similar weight, I ended up opening the rebound up and it was much better I settled on 6-8 LSR ( faster flow stuff)

The settings will vary depending on how the shock is tuned so your best bet is to experiment for yourself.
One way to do that is to keep all user controls open and set your SAG.......typically 30% shaft travel. Now only adjust the rebound to its half way point and run a short section of typical trail. Next move the rebound 1 or 2 stops slower and retest on the same trail.................then set it 1 or 2 stops faster from the mid setting and repeat the trail run...............compare which setting feels best............if the faster setting was best, try anothe stop faster.........compare. When you thinky ou have the best result repeat the process with compression........, low speed compression if you have both low and high speed settings. Repeat the test process as for rebound. If you have high speed compression and rebound I would leave both open or close to open for now. I have typically found high speed compression ( and rebound to match) is best adjusted to a firmer setting for any ride where I know drops and jumps feature but pretty much fast/open for smoother single track type trails.

ps on my Whyte E180 RS (shock is Fox Faxtory X2/170mm) the shock is tuned "light" everything and I found the Fox recommended settings pretty much spot on. Different bike I know but Spesh tend to use a firmer shock tune so I would expect the user settings to be lighter than Fox recommendations.

I have the same bike and only 3 rides in. I have a lot more sag at Specialized recommended setting (239lbs) for my 190lb riding weight. I'm running 255lbs 11 comp/ 9 rebound. Try opening up your rebound as mentioned. 272lbs sounds about right if shooting for 30% sag/ 16.5mm.

If using the stock Fox 38, I'm guessing you're around 110-115 psi?

Surprised you all are running so much compression damping on an X2. I find that shock runs best almost wide open. I've had it on a few bikes and they all performed best that way.

Why so much sag past the usual 30% max? You must have a soft/plus ride and this will also lower your BB a lot more.

That’s a “dynamic” sag number as measured by the ShockWiz. If I measure it static it looks more like 30%.
You are correct, 38% static sag would be awful.
I honestly needed the Wiz for set up. I just wasn’t getting it without and it added confidence in the tune.

Got it. I tried 235psi for my 190lbs and I was way past 30% sag. It seems like low psi for your weight? At 250-255psi the shock still feels good and plush at my weight . I added 1 band and will play with lower psi.

I think when I started I was t 257 psi and thought I was going to destroy my pump. I think that’s close to the max for the shock too.
I love the way the bike rides at the current settings.
Fox 38 fork is so rigid and precise, I love it in the janky stuff.

Thanks for the settings I will try them. I did install a cascade link which changes the leverage ratio. It seems to resist bottoming out the shock. I have not checked the rear shock for spacers but did buy spacers just in case. Did your X2 come with any spacers in the rear shock?

I had no spacers in the shock.
Yes the cascade will change your settings for sure. I can’t remember if you start with higher or lower pressures but I’m sure there is some talk on the subject in the forum. It sounds like a more linear set up so that would be good.
Anyways, enjoy the ride, such a great bike.

Yours looks good. Fox front fender but what’s on the rear?
I did Ridewrap, clear flat.
Hockey tape and inner tube on the rear triangle.
Hockey tape patches wherever the wrap gets damaged. Basically fake tattoos to make it look tough.

I have the Levo Fox Float X2 settings as follows. Still have to test.
Old air pressure 272psi for 15mm or 30% sag before the Cascade Link.
Added the Cascade Link and now the pressure changed from 272 psi to 290 psi. I am at 16mm sag.
I am 215lb loaded up and think if I weighed any more I may have a problem reaching 30% sag. The cascade link works but at the recommended 10% pressure increase the cost maybe for heaver riders not being able to reach 30% sag.

25% shock sag for 2022 55mm stroke shock is 13.75mm.
30% is 16.5mm.

I had the same problem. Swaped my x2 for a Float x and very happy. went from 310psi to 260psi in the floatx.

This depends on the bike size. S1: 52.50mm, S2-S6: 55mm.
