I was having a suspension discussion with one of my fellow engineers at work. He was one of the engineers at FOX that designed the GRIP damper and was the lead engineer on the RAPTOR truck suspensions. we were discussion getting a more supple front end so as to not beat up your hands. His comment is that the majority of what you feel in your hands is due to chassis friction (friction in the fork). his suggestion was put a set of fox 40 down hill forks on it. Has anyone done this? any comments on what it would take to put the triple crown set up on my rail?

You might be able to run a Boxxer spaced down to 180mm as the axle to crown is less the the Zeb and Fox 38's set @ 170mm. Only issue might be frame clearance with the stanchions as the Rails top tube is beefy. Fox 40 spaced down to 190mm is a few mm taller than the Zeb 170. It wud be interesting to see. With the 38 I don't have much hand pain....10% of what it was w/ my Fox 36

It's possible to make custom airshaft for FOX40 ( cut down the oem shaft), you can go as low as 160mm. Fox 40 29inch version lowered to 180mm has 578mm axle to crown length, which is pretty close to your current one.

How does it ride? Did you have any issues with frame clearance? What parts did you use to make this fit?

it rides way better than stock, climbs very well, and descends almost like a dh bike. no frame clearance issues. all stock parts, the only special part is the 190mm airshaft to make the stack height as close to stock as possible
