Fox 38 on Orbea Rise

Has anyone fitted a fox 38 on a Orbea rise?. Would this work?.

Axle to crown would be too long I believe, plus it would be chunky.

Orbea Rise blue paper states max Axle to crown as 561mm which is a few forks at 150mm travel, The 38 at 160mm travel would be around 575mm.
I am running a manitou Mezzer Pro at 160mm which is similar weight to Fox 36 but much stiffer

The rise is already quite slack (65.5) so I probably wouldn't go much further given the intended purpose for the Rise. A 36 is the ideal fork for this frame IMO.

I don't think a 38 makes sense on this frame but each to their own.

I have a RS zeb on my enduro bike at 170mm that I tried on my rise for one ride. To me, the orbea frame is too flexy to warrant a fork that stiff and the resulting axle to crown of that fork at 170mm wasn't what I was looking for on the rise. I think if I had the zeb at 160 it would have been better overall... but still I am able to flex this frame too much to warrant that much front end stiffness.

I do run a 160mm 36 factory on my rise that I only put on because I got a hookup at my LBS and I was trying to keep weight down (I already have a 36lb 170mm travel sled). If i were buying full MSRP, I'd look to a lyric or mezzer and keep them at 160mm.

That being said, the 38 is a great fork, if you want to run one, I'd say go for it, but keep it at 160mm because of the increased axle to crown height over the 36 which the factory geometry chart is based on.

I'm running a Fox 38 160. When I installed the 160 air shaft into my Factory 36, it became noticeably too flexy. As a big guy, it's definitely a me problem, but it's paired with a 216x63 DHX2 which work well together. If I was running my stock Factory Float X at 140mm travel, I would have kept running the 36 @ 150.

I’m a huge guy….not a typical mtb’er who thinks 220 is heavy. I’m 300. The 36 flexes a lot, the 38 doesn’t otherwise they both feel like Fox forks with Grip2 dampers…if you have a Performance fork…personally I’m not a fan.

What head angle does that give you?!. 63 degrees?.

I disagree. Like I said, it works great for me and I enjoy the hell out of it. It’s my bike and I chose to set it up as such. Cheers.
