This has nowt to do with riding a bike ..but a strange thing happened while driving home last night ..
Shortly after turning off the A68 ( one of the main N/S roads through the county of Northumberland ) onto the minor B road taking me 5 miles through the hamlet of Redesmouth and into my home village of Bellingham a very random thought occurred..that I had never encountered a deer on this particular stretch of road in over 22 years of almost daily driving both ways ..
It's a very narrow tight & twisty road passing through a short but dense woodland section and as far as I can remember I've never had that particular " thought " before ..
This was at 7.45pm so totally dark ..and after crossing the bridge over the River Rede and passing under the defunct N.Tyne railway bridge ( arch ) onto a section where a hedgerow on both sides narrows the road even further I caught a movement at the limit of my full beam and then there it was ..a fawn definitely this years baby wandering from side to side on the road and unable to exit into a field ..
I just stopped the car and as another was approaching from the opposite direction hoped that he would see what was heading his way which he thankfully did ..
The deer did an about turn and passed by my drivers side window and into the night ..hopefully finding the spot where it had entered onto the road in the first place ..
Just a very strong coincidence..or have we really the ability to sub- consciously see into the future.. ?

Weird coincidence, they happen all the time! 🤪

I remember when I was a kid (about 11), living in Wiltshire. I was playing out and came in for a drink - the hot summer of 76 I think. My mum was pouring me a drink and chatting and then stopped and shivered. I asked what the matter was and she said, I just had the feeling a lot of people have died.

We shrugged it off but when we watched the news that night a plane had crashed that morning in east Africa and everyone had perished. Weird!

She must be a witch! :ROFLMAO: Either that or she felt a 'major disturbance in the Force' and she was actually a Jedi!

I got a phone call on Tuesday to say that my brother had been rushed into hospital and needed a heart valve replacement. In the early hours of Wed am I woke up with the clear feeling that he had died.
I rang his wife in the morning and he was perfectly fine! :)
But if he had died, how spooky would that have been?

A deer hit me a few weeks back. it had been running down the road infront of me for about a quarter of a mile while riding home from a friend's pished and stoned as fuck at 4am. So pished Infact that for the first few hundred meters I thought it was a very big hare. It turned off the road and up my driveway to get away from my light. And then found its way to a dead end past my cottage. Where it then freaked out at my light shining on it as I fumbled for my keys. It then ran at me. Hoofed me in the chest as it jumped straight over my head. The next night my girlfriend asked me if I had come off my bike. I replied. No. Why? She pointed out two bruises on my chest. I had no recollection of falling off my bike at all (or the deer) so we put it down to the typical branches you ride through in the woods and don't really worry about. I didn't recall the incident at all until 4 days later when watching a film with a night time driving scene scene triggered a flashback to the hare and said out loud "HARE!" "eh. Nah. Hold on!" Deer" and then started pissing myself laughing as the memory of me being jumped over and stood in the dark shouting "oh ya cunt" came flooding back. (my neighbours love me)

I'm 4 miles from the A68 nowhere near Northumberland tho.

That you remember ...

When in fact what happened was that you accidentally ended up cycling home behind a Werehare, she then literally led you up the garden path. You charmed her and invited her in. Things got a bit urgent with some heavy tooth pecking and ear fondling and you never made it inside. Had the best sex you'd ever had in your life which sadly ended with a heart attack and your death. Fortunately, this Werehare had a defibrillator and managed to bring you back to life (hence the bruising) then hypnotised you to forget the experience. In the meantime your subconscious has created it's own version of events so you can psychologically live with the experience.

Many thanks for the best wishes for my brother. :)
Fishing for sympathy was not my reason for posting, but thanks anyway. :)

The particular heart valve is like two saloon bar doors that catch in one direction. His problem is that the edges have worn and suddenly started missing instead of catching. They call it an incompetent valve. It's not genetic, it's not wear and tear, it's not lifestyle. What it is, is damage from when he had rheumatic fever when he was 14 (he is 67 now). He has been fit and active all his life, never smoked etc, and this has stopped him cold. The cardiac specialist says that he was just unlucky. (Or lucky, depending upon how you look at it).

They will transfer him from Airedale General to Leeds hospital on Monday and crack him open (split down the chest) and either repair the edges of the valve or more likely replace the valve. It will be a 3-4 hour operation that is seen as "routine", followed by 3 months recovery. No lifting, no driving, no sport etc. But from the moment he wakes up he will feel better because his heart will be working properly. Apparently, the valve first became incompetent two weeks ago and from that moment his lungs started to fill with fluid.

He was treated for the fluid problem and feels perfectly OK right now. As a result, he is bored rigid, limited TV and wifi etc. The other 3 guys in his 4-bed ward are all too ill to talk to, nurses too busy to talk to. He went for a walk but couldn't get to the end of the corridor without becoming breathless. He persisted and wanted to walk to the vending machine another 50 yards away. He was stopped by three concerned nurses who insisted that he come back to the ward. He said he feels like a prisoner, but he cooperates because he knows that he will be fixed on Monday and he is immensely grateful for that. (y)

Visiting times and the number and type of visitors are heavily restricted. So far, he has only seen his daughter once and his wife once per day.

Hope the operation is successful and he gets back to full fitness
