What does performance even means? I wonder if it is any different from the "analog" mountain e-bike.
Not sure I understand what you are asking exactly but in general terms performance on any bike is its ability to deal well with whatever type of riding you do.....trail, all mountain, enduro, freeride, downhill.................plus I guess reliability. So nothing really different between analogue and Emtbs except of course Emtbs deliver greater capability in terms of climbing and energy preservation on longer adventure rides.
If your question relates to performance differences between various Emtb purchase options, then it is much the same as an analogue bike in terms of bike fit, frame geometry and grades of components. The added dimension is of course the motor/battery/display combination. You can only determine if you prefer one over another by trying them.........the main options being Bosch, Brose, Shimano and Yamaha.

For me, it should be exciting (fast) for the longest time possible. I should feel a little guilty for not wearing enough protection, and get more air than I planned often. If it manages to go faster for longer, even better. I want to feel giddy like a kid on it, not suffering. Zero guilt about riding an ebike here. The goal is for flats and uphills to be as fast and furious as descents. I like descents. Ideally, the breaks between high speed sections should be only long enough to give the lower back and quads a brief rest when/if needed. What does performance even means?
