Removed the front chainweel today. No other reason than curiosity and cleaning. Just as well I did , the fixing nut was barely finger tight as opposed to 30Nm!
What did become apparent is that the retaining nut also houses a seal, hence the reason it’s listed as a spare part.
Needless to say it was full of crud behind the chainweel. All very easy to do. Obvs the crank needs to come off first buts that’s easy as they’re self-extracting. Deffo part of the cleaning/servicing routine.
