OK, did a boo boo. Bid and won on a pro5 rear wheel, but thanks to me not looking carefully enough i missed the info that it was a 27.5 and not a 29er

My bike is 29er and has a flip chip. Its an Emtb. I can run 29,27.5 or a mullet.

Can I just fit this without changing the flip chip thing from 29 to 27.5 without any problems ?
I got it pretty much as new for £190, as opposed to the £310, so a fair old bargain really, just my stupidity really has put the happy mood on a downer.

What bike do have that can take 29 or 27.5 without huge compromises with a single flipchip?? I understand mulleting the bike with a flipchip but I don't think I ever heard of a bike that can take 27.5 and 29 in both ends like that.

Anyway to answer your question, just try to out. It won't explode and if you don't like it you can change it back.

Try the mullet configuration, you might like it.
My first 29er was my previous emtb and it was forever buzzing my arse on steep descents. My current emtb is a mullet and I no longer get buzzed. :)

As to your original question, do you have to use the flipchip?; try it both ways to see which you prefer. But give it a while for any benefits/problems to emerge.

As far as im aware i can either run 29,27.5 or the mullet.

** Just checked the book and it appears yes i can run both ends 27.5, or both 29 or the 29/27.5 mix.- If thats what you meant.

Thanks. indeed it cant hurt. I was just wondering if this is going to effect to motor settings- range speed or something like that.

If the only flip chip you have is on the shock linkage you have a high and a low setting.......referring mostly to the height of the BB. Fitting a smaller /27.5 wheel on the back would I think normally mean ensuring you use the high position. That flip chip also makes a small difference to the head angle ( c 0.5%.......slacker in the low position compared to the high).

for bosch motors you have to go a LBS and have them change the wheel size in the motor settings.

without doing that your either going to get errors or limp mode

Weirdly enough I tried a 27.5 in the rear of my Crafty the other day.I did about 20 miles with no adjustments to anything else and the motor was fine.

I've recently mulleted my bike. (mustache game 8). And because it's designed with a flip chip the kiox had loads of different wheel circumstances in its menu.
