Afternoon all - UK/Edinburgh based emtber here. I'm one of those people who lurks around the forum and reads and gains info but has never been active/posted until now!

Sadly it is to report that my Turbo Levo Comp (black - L) was stolen from my garage in south Edinburgh on Tuesday night. It is totally black with no decals and has a distinctive (fugly) mudguard on the back for winter duty although that might be removed. Eddy Current 2.8 tyres, Easton carbon bars and Thomson stem are probably still fitted.

If you spot one of these out and about in the Pentlands/Glentress or plodding round town please shout or (if you want to) phone Police Scotland incident 0577 6/1/21.

They made off with my motorbike and carbon fatbike but tbh it is the levo I'm most upset about! Fingers crossed the insurers are as good as their word and I'll be back on the trails soon.

When I am I'll be sure to post and keen to hook up with any Edinburgh based EMTB people.

Cheers

Aye insured thankfully although the number of questions you have to answer dealing with these guys makes your sweat - you feel like they're constantly trying to trip you up so they can give you two fingers!

Fatbike - Sonder Carbon Vir Fortis with Bluto forks - here it is on the beach. Pretty distinctive - not many/any of those about!

I thought that would be the case

my home insurance wouldn’t cover my ebikes so I have taken out a policy to cover both
But finger crossed I will never need it as the way these companies try to wiggle out of it is terrible
Sorry you lost your bike mate ?

Feel sorry for you. Its somthing I dread.

Out of interest, did the police turn up, or just take a report and give you a reference number? Had my garage broken into a few years ago and they didn't care ☹

i know exactly how you feel mate. I had my levo stolen from my garage less than 2 months ago. had lots of big upgrades too. I had to learn the hard way,... mine was not insured. Think yourself lucky.

I was going to say thanks, but frankly some of the choices were not what I'd have gone for. ........ ;) :ROFLMAO:

Glad to see you managed to get back on two wheels, that really really sucked and I hope they suffer from eternal flatulence and eventually die in an incredibly unfortunate group methane explosion.

Sorry to hear Topper... looking forward to seeing posts showing your new replacement bike soon!

Crazy coincidence that I was just watching this clip on YouTube yesterday... appears to be a growing trend in other countries too...?

@Topper I commute daily in and out of Edinburgh and generally do take notice of other bikes I pass so will keep my eyes peeled for your bikes. Anything distinctive about the Levo to tell me it's yours before I knock out some innocent guy for riding his own bike ?

I had mine stolen as well from Whitburn west lothian on or around the 3rd Jan 2021, currently dealing with the insurance. Police have this ongoing, they have been really good to be honest, forensics have been out yesterday as blood was found. This is currently being fast tracked through the system by CID, this case is set as a level one case which is just behind murder apparently.

They made off with my trek rail 9.8 xt, custom built evil the following, and my cube hardtail and the scum also scratched my car getting the bikes out.

The Trail.
Sorry to hear that Topper, hope you get it back (or Gary gives them a thorough kick-in).

I'm wondering if there is a commonality between the thefts (other than there are thieving scumbags that live amongst us) that we may be able to understand which may help in the future. Or may not but its worth a try.

Single bolt garage doors/shed (i.e. lack of secure entry/exit) or easily broken windows?
Logging of Strava rides including the start/finish being close to where the bike is kept?
Similar routes ridden or similar days (such as commuting)?
People seen hanging around?
Location of where people live - cities/towns/villages/hamlets etc?
Chatting with people whilst out on the trails where the conversation mentions the roundabout location where people live?

Police have been good actually - so far anyway. They were round on the day and then forensic team round too. We have done a facebook shout out to the area and have had CCTV footage of the little scrotes what did it! 3am in the morning from the guy down the street. From a distance but you can see the bastards clear as day. This has been passed on to police as well but 3 days later I suspect everything has gone tbh.

Insurers have been hard work - to be fair they're asking reasonable questions and haven't said anything yet but you have to jump through a lot of hoops! I'm just waiting for the "that isn't covered" chat. Motorbike company are actually the worst - I really get the feeling they're looking for a way out of this.

Simmo has a point but I'm pretty careful about it. We live in a new housing estate and there are builders everywhere at the moment - loads of vans and comings and goings. I reckon someone has been keeping an eye out - I'm in and out of the garage a lot and the door is opened regularly so anyone could've seen in. In my old garage I had deadbolts, alarm, ground anchors the lot but I hadn't got round to fitting them to the new garage yet. Too slow. Needless to say the world's supply of security equipment has been ordered and is en route.
