Hi,
Was hoping the forum collective could help me with a bit of feedback on picking my first e-bike.
As I guess most everyone would, I am looking for the best bang for my buck and not wanting to pick something that I will grow out of too quickly.

Most of my riding is on light trails and fire roads but that is in part down to the fact that my current bike is not really capable of tough terrain.

My list of contenders is a mix between hardtails and full suspension bikes.
In no particular order they are:-
Cube Reaction Pro SL 500
Decathlon E-ST900
Canyon Neuron-On 5
Stilus Full Suspension (Decathlon)
VooDoo Zobop

I have stuck a PDF of thumbnails on the above list if anyone is not sure of what they look like.

I would really appreciate your thoughts as I don't want to go and jump in quickly to find I might have made a costly mistake

Cube or the Stilus mate. Stilus is crazy good value.

I would say maybe the Cube as it has dealer support in the UK, not sure about the Stilus that may have to get shipped somewhere and your on your own for repairs and weeks off the bike is not fun..

I’m a Cube fan but I’ve looked at your PDF and the pic shows an older version with the old larger and heavier Bosch motor. Have you considered a similar bike but with the newer Gen 4 motor? The newer one decouples from the motor over 15.5mph and is therefore easier to pedal.
Also I sometimes find a lot of mud can collect behind the smaller chain ring of the older motor which can even jam the chain which happened to us once.

I nearly bought the 2019 Cube SL500. I ended up waiting and getting the 2020 version. SL 625.
The 625 watt hour battery, new bosch 4th Gen motor with the Kiox display made it worth the extra couple of hundred quid extra you'll pay and I can honestly say the bike is excellent

I'm going to the stores at weekend to check out the 2020 Cubes

I like the look and spec of the Stilus but support after the 12 month warranty is a concern

I think the motor and battery will be covered by the standard rolling bosch 2 year warranty. ie - if you break it after 8 months, for instance, and they put a new one in - the two years starts again from there on the changed motor.

Agreed. I think Cube is probably the same as Focus, too: if you have motor or battery problems you get directed straight to Bosch. So there is no great advantage buying Cube over the Stilus.

Hassles with frames are pretty rare (except one notable exception! ) and everything else is pure consumable that any local bikeshop will deal with anyway. Drive trains etc. are not covered by warranty. Any other problems (peeling paint?) you'll spot within the guarantee period - which I think has a standard 365 day, no questions asked, return refund at Decathlon.

At least, I hope that's the case, because I've been encouraging everyone I know to at least consider the Stilus - the first of which gets delivered this week, apparently. [Edit: Nope. Delivery due 18th]
