Hey, watch out there kids - fake autumn leaf fall post drought is a thing and it's out there today ( at least in the SW UK!!)
Caught out on a red trail covered in them - could barely follow the trail, then properly blew it on the granite steps (upwards)
Took my first half decent fall, currently sitting in minor injuries waiting to be seen .
Cardinham Woods Ranger, Hollie, did a great job with the first aid when i got back. wouldn't believe the amount of blood that washed out of my sock under the dog water tap ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

( Cushioned the bike ok ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘)

Really glad your bike was OK, could have caused some damage if you weren't there for it to land on ๐Ÿ‘

Seriously thou, that looks pretty nasty, hope nothings broken and just needs a bit of skin to grow back.

Can see the bone - they're saying i might have to go upto main a&e hospital to have it flushed - not just a minor injury then - requires "surgical intervention"!! ๐Ÿ‘Š

Apparently it's called "false autumn" and indicates water stress: Heatwave triggers 'false autumn' in UK

That or the trees trying to get back at you for riding over their roots.

From the above post:

After the 30C+ days and a bit of rain everything is growing like crazy except for some of the trees, typically oak and beech, which are already shedding their leaves - a portent perhaps of an early autumn. Where we are (Chichester, West Sussex) its a "mast"* year - acorns, berries, seeds galore.

Cheers yeah - that did occur to me, bad workman and all that.
The annoying thing was i'd already been round and done it once, breezed it no prob. Only started doing it about a month ago after riding there for 12 months - never occurred to me it was a thing that could be done.... and it won't again!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Scrubbing brush and some carbolic soap administered by nurse Ratched, that'll fix it. :D
Ended up having it flushed out ( he spotted bark come out!!) then cutting off the dead skin so it doesn't go manky during the healing process and sticking loads of plasters over it. Not enough skin left to stitch together ( lucky me ) .
Got tetanus jab so that should see me through for the rest of me natural but turned down offer of antibiotics....
Gotta love the NHS โ™ฅ๏ธ

If it's not completely debrided you will need antibiotics. Don't ask me how I know. :(

How do you...ah, ne'er mind ( but consider my curiosity piqued .... ๐Ÿค” )

Crashed a motorcycle and wripped my right wrist open, got muck in it. Was debrided and sutured but still became infected. Worry was that if the infection got into the bone I might need amputation. Was put on 4gm of Flucloxicillin (antibiotic) drip every 24 hrs which controlled the infection. Had 3 GA's in 5 days to debride my wrist. 3rd attempt worked. Bummer was that I also broke my left arm so couldn't put a cannula into it so was instead put into a foot. By a trainee nurse who had several goes at it <expletive deleted>. By having the antibiotics you could dodge a nasty infection.

Ouch... the doc wasn't quite so.... positive about the need.
I'm very aware of the overuse of antibiotics and problems that are arising with superbugs etc, which could ultimately lead to no more surgery so (believe) i'm doing my bit by not using them unless absolutely necessary.
He did say it wasn't as bad as they initially thought so the offer was more belt and braces.....
Relying on the final solution (??!!??) , fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

Nasty wound. After collecting a bunch of small scars from sticks hitting my lower legs I always ride in pants now.

DUDE! You need to get your priorities straight.
We don't care about pictures of your scrawny legs.
Where are the pictures of Ranger Holly?
Knew i'd forgotten something ๐Ÿค”
Apparently she's calling later today to find out how I am. I'll ask her to send some over ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘.....

My wife had promised me a nurses uniform when i got home so didn't hang about ..... To be fair his hands looked a bit rough so not sure I'd have enjoyed it...

If we are asking for pictures surely this is the one we should be after

Unless the uniform was for you ๐Ÿคช

Glad to hear you will live to ride another day!
