Salve! Possiedo una Merida e-one Sixty 800 acquistata un anno fá. Il motore Shimano sempre perfetto, all’improvviso dopo circa 35/40 km, va in errore E010 e poi riaccendendo W013. Qualcuno ha avuto gli stessi problemi? Ed eventualmente come ha risolto. Grazie ??

Hi! I own a Merida e-one Sixty 800 purchased a year ago. The always perfect Shimano engine, suddenly after about 35/40 km, goes into error E010 and then turns on W013 again. Has anyone had the same problems? And hopefully how he solved it. Thanks

Over 2000 miles on my e8000 and it’s happened a few times. I just turn everything off then on again and all is fine.

I've done 1750 miles / 2816 km, and I'm having the same issue at the moment. I'm trying to solve it through process of elimination. So far I've done a full strip and clean of all electrical connections and motor terminals, using emery cloth and contact cleaner. Adjusted the battery mount to ensure the battery fits tight and doesn't rattle. After cleaning and adjusting the connections and battery the bike ran fine for about 4 miles the error code E010 came up turned off and on and W013 error code came up. Cleared all codes and it worked for about 2 miles, then error code E010 again. Cleared the code but it came back every time I tried to ride, wouldn't go 1 metre. Checked the wiring terminals again and found loose connectors to the display power, Di2 and speed sensor. New cables on order, just waiting for delivery.

Odd thing is, after leaving the bike over night, tried it again today and all codes cleared and bike is fine. I'm starting think its an overheating torque sensor or fault. I'll let you know how I get on with the new cables.

This was a bit of an issue for one or two posters (including me) on this site this time last year.
Torque sensor issue requiring a new motor for me and others.
Trip to dealer I'm afraid.

Yeah I've been reading up on all the issues, I want to eliminate as much as I can, if it still happened after I replace the cables its going back as its still covered by warranty.

Unfortunately it's not an un-common problem with the E8000, my Esommet had the same issues and the motor was replaced by Madison, there has been no official reason given for these failures by Shimano, but the torque sensor seems to be the most likely culprit.
Unfortunately it's put me off buying any bike with a Shimano motor, the general unreliability of most manufacturers motors has put me off ebikes altogether, having the motor die miles from anywhere is not something I would fancy

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking, I’m going to replace some cables with loose connectors and see how that goes. If that doesn’t fix it it’s going back to the dealer.

So after completely stripping the bike down and dropping the E8000 motor out. All three cable connections point where they fit on the motor were loose, proper loose. Guess i've removed the cables so many times the small ribs that hold them in place had warn off. `I also found that the speed sensor cable was pinched between the motor, dropper post cable and brake hose, the magnet to the speed sensor was also not alined as it should be. Cleaned everything and put it back together, replacing the speed sensor, DI2 gear cable, and power cable to the display unit, taking care not to pinch any cables when the motor went back in. I had to tighten the cable connections, so I made up some split collars to slide in between the connector and socket from some thin metal (used a wine bottle top) worked well.

Just been out on a test ride, 14 miles, no error codes, motor runs well, gave it a god test kept the motor engaged in trail mode most of the 14 miles. The only 1 error that occurred was the display cut out once during the ride but came straight back on. I've attached a few photos of the collars I fitted. The connector block needs to be replaced, specialist job as it would require splitting the motor to disconnect the ribbon from the motor internals. Fingers crossed it's solved my problem, a few more test rides needed I think.

Thought I’d cracked it after stripping down, cleaning everything, replacing cables and making sure all the connections are nice and tight. Took it out for two test rides. The first 14 miles, no issues, the second 25 miles. No issues until mile 22 when the dreaded E010 strikes again. There’s nothing more I can do so it’s back to the shop. ?

Didn't like to be Mr Pessimistic but I did everything you tried, and maybe more besides, but you described classic faulty torque sensor symptoms and the only cure is a new motor. Hope they can get you one quickly.

I think your probably right, I’ve just checked the bike after leaving it for 3 hours and it working perfectly now. So random when the fault occurs. It was fine for 20 miles, rested the bike for 30 minutes and 2 miles after going again error code E010 followed by W013 and then E010 every time I restarted the battery. So frustrating.

Trouble is you don't know when it will fail next. Not too bad if you're out on your own but a nuisance if you are out with mates and an embarrassment if any of those mates are on 'push bikes' as they will take great delight in seeing your superior e-bike let you down (at least mine do).

Lol yeah happened to me last week 10 miles from home. The lads took great delight posting photos of themselves drinking beer, whilst I was still in the slog home. ? the odd thing is it’s only been happening since the firmware update.

400m lol that’s a proper test. The only problem I have is the shop where I brought it from is closed at the moment as it’s in disputes with the landlord over an asbestos issue. You couldn’t write it, lol.

Took my motor apart to solve this issue today. Intermittent e10/ occasional w013.

Seems to be corrosion on the torque sensor connection. Must be a manufacturing issue, both sides are similar.

The rest of the motor is spot on, no abnormal wear or water ingress. bit of a shame really, 4 months out of warranty!

Did you ever get this fixed? Stuck with E010 and W013 issues here.
