Been trying to get clarity on this but is the EP801 Gen2 and EP600 Gen2 the same motor unit, with the only difference being the EP600 is cased in steel instead of magnesium?

I've seen a few (older) reports that said the EP600 is actually just a rebrand of the older EP8 motors.

EP600 has the same Firmware as the EP801. But it is limited to 500Watts, where the EP801 can draw 600Watts. The EP8 runs different firmware.

Although the new overrun feature in V4.3 firmware, has not been provided for the EP600, but has in the EP801.

The EP600 and EP801 use the same Gen 2 batteries, and cannot use the EP8 Gen 1 battery. So whilst an EP600 can be upgraded to EP801 without additional hardware upgrade. The EP8 cannot.

The EP8 does not allow Autoshift or Freeshift, which are both available to the EP600 and EP801, with the installation of an 11 speed Electronic Di2 Derailleur and Shifter.

So the EP600, IMO, is closer to the EP801, than the EP8.

The EP6 motor characteristics is similar to the old EP8, at least it was when I compared them just over a year ago. Motor design is similar to the EP801.
