Ep8 feels like its stiff sometimes

I have a 2023 Norco Bigfoot VLT 1 with an EP8, and I love the bike! No issues 99% of the time.

But sometimes -- happened today -- The bike feels like the motor has a tonne of resistance, but it doesn't make sense.
- going up to turbo, it feels fine/normal
- turn off the bike it feels normal - almost no resistance
- turn on the bike, but in off mode it feels normal
- turn to eco feels normal -- hard to tell because my eco is really tuned down
- turn to trail, and it just feels stiff I have to pedal harder than I do in off mode or eco. Feels like the motor is in some weird re-gen mode where I'm fighting the motor but it does give me ok/normal power but it's the resistance that is just not a normal feeling.
- bump it up to turbo, and feels normal
- turn back to trail, and its stiff like crazy again

To get the bike back to normal I normally unplug the battery for a few minutes then it feels normal again. It's happened now about 4 times. It has been below freezing each time, but anytime I ride this bike it is below freezing it is a Bigfoot..

Next time this happens think I might try loading the app and changing a setting to see if it shows anything.
No errors -- in fact I've never gotten an error on this bike

Update the software.
It is unlikely to be a mechanical issue as it runs OK in Eco and Boost.

There was a patch for the motor and controller, so I did apply them tonight, and I also changed my values around a bit to maybe reset any bad data. It will be frozen rain for the next few days, but I'll take the bike out for another ride once that is done.
