Second time out today with my new Spectral:ON. During a hill climb in ECO mode I got the EO43 error on the Display and the motor assist shut down. I waited a minute then turned off the battery and back on again. Everything worked fine and continued my ride of about 31 miles with no issues at all. Should I be concerned ?

I checked with the manual and it says there could be a problem with the system firmware and I should contact the dealer, day 2 of a brand new bike ???

In terms of apps, I have E-Tube Ride installed but I wasn't using it at the time. I have Downloaded ETUBE Project - but haven't connected it to the bike yet as I was wanting to adjust the ride mode profiles.

Anyone else experienced the EO43 Error ? Can the firmwares be updated by the end user ?

I just got a new YT Decoy and had the same error on both rides.
Same as you I just turned it off and back on and it was fine.
Seems like a Shimano issue since our bikes are two different
manufactures. I am going to call YT and ask if they know what
the fix is. I'll let you know if I find out anything.

Thanks for that. I've been doing a bit of research, it looks like the E-TUBE Project app doesn't actually allow you to re-write firmwares to the system, I think the W043 is a corrupt firmware file - theres no way I'm sending my bike back to Canyon, just hoping a fix becomes available or that I don't get the error again, doesn't install me with much confidence.

Just called the shop and they said Shimano sent out a buggy
software update. The fix is to roll back to the previous version
which he said they had to do. He also said Shimano is sending
out updated firmware mid September that will fix the issue.

Guess this is what happens when our bikes run on software!!

Good to know then that a fix may be coming in later releases. I have heard that there is a PC link cable required to do proper firmware updates, I guess what is used my Shimano technicans. I wonder if this is something that could be had outside of Shimano dealers ? I hope I don't see the error message again until we hear of an update.

You can update the firmware using etube app, but in the past, it is only when an new update is released. AFAIK there is no way to roll back using the app.

You can using the eTube App, the firmware files are available, they just need to be loaded into the android device that has the app on it.

A lot of local bike shops will do firmware upgrades / downgrades and tuning for you.. atleast in the North West

4.7.0 is the buggy one. I had zero issues with 4.6.1. I updated mine to 4.7.0 and get this message a couple of times each ride.

I got one, they're not cheap but they work. I had problems galore with the eTube App...

I am having the same E043 error on my E7000 system. I get the error every 2-3 rides, shut off power and turn back on to finish my ride without any problems. Hoping new firmware is released soon to fix this issue.

How do we do that? My Shimano center said they only have a diagnostics computer and cannot do that..

eTube loaded onto an android device with the firmware files.

Read page 19 of this link and follow the instructions. On page 19 there is a link to the firmware files. There should be 2 firmware files there, 4.6.1 and 4.3.2
eg. get the files from the link on page 19 and then follow the directions, it's very easy, I have done it a couple of times myself.

If 4.6.1 isn't there let me know and I can send it to you.

So just a follow up. Unfortunately this did not work for me.
Did a ride today and got the error three times. On the new firmware I only got it one time each ride. Super frustrating as this is supposedly the fix that YT gave me. Guess I’ll just have to wait for the new firmware to come out mid September and hopefully it fixes the issue. Meanwhile I’m going to just upgrade tot the newest since that only gave me one error per ride. Curious what other people’s results have been?

My e7000 is also showing the error. 3 times now and always during boost on steep uphill sections. Same shutdown fix.

Yep, mine also does this on each ride at some point. I have had it go away when I change modes.
I am on IOS, but have an old Galaxy tablet; would this work, or is the software dependant on a current (or nearly current) version of Android?

So just got back from a 27 mile ride and it did not error out once! The
4.6.1 firmware errored out three times on the same ride a few days
earlier. I updated it back to 4.7 I think and no errors. So for me rolling
it back made it worse than the newest firmware.
