EMTB sizing advice

Noobie question, but I wondering if people have any general advice. I'm looking to get a base turbo levo and they only have the L in stock at my local store.

I'm 176cm and so kind of in between the M and L. Are there any general recommendations which one to go for? I'm female if that makes a difference.
I know it would be best to try them both and see which one is more comfortable, but I'm not sure I'll have the chance.

My wife is the same height and test rode a 19 Levo in Large - she could ride it, but would have felt much more in control on a Medium. If you're really between sizes I'd also say it 's easier to make a smaller bike fit "bigger" than the other way round.

I'm 175 cm and M is good for me. In the past I had the KTM Macina 19" frame and it was too big, now I feel much better.

It will be to large. You’ll feel much more comfortable on a medium

i am 175cm and have just purchased a Large levo, i was previously on a medium kenevo the large levo fits alot better

If you’re a typical female with proportionately longer legs than men the medium might fit you better but you wouldn’t want to buy it without trying it.

My daughter who is slightly taller than you at 178cm tall is comfortable on her large Fuji Auric which is about a cm shorter ETT at 625 ETT vs 634 on the Levo. She did not fit or like the medium Auric with 605 mm top tube and the medium Levo is even shorter.

It’s too bad that there’s such a large gap between sizes with the medium Levo at 600 mm ETT. If you don’t have your heart set on a Levo maybe shop around; for example the Bulls AM2 in large is slightly shorter at 623. Liv bikes are generally about 15mm shorter top tube in the same seat tube size so you might want to look at their eBikes; they use different geometry than Giant bikes.

I am same height and tested a Large 2020 Levo today - it was a very good fit though I would need to get the dropper changed from 150mm to 125mm if I decide to buy it as the seat tube is quite long ( I have an inside leg of 30 inches)

Thanks for the advice! I rode the L around the parking lot today and it seemed fairly comfortable but I would really like the M to compare. I'm not experienced enough to tell really. The sales rep said they're getting the Norco back in stock later this week so I might give that a shot too.

Any thoughts on the Norco bikes? There don't seem to be a ton of reviews but seems fairly popular?

Non-removable battery is a big minus on the Norco for me.

The battery would be ok for me as I have a charger by the storage spot.

Budget wise it's a bit higher though. The VLT 3 would be more reasonable but that bigger battery is a big plus for the VLT 2. I'm hoping to mostly skip the car and ride to the trails but it'll add about 12-25km return so more reach would be good and may be worth the $$.

In general a normal recommendation on MTBs when you are “in between” sizes are to go for the larger one.
Things to notice is reach and top tube length, since saddle height is adjustable and easy to change. If the bike feels too long, and the stem is too long on the larger size, simply replace it with a shorter one. On the other hand a smaller bike can feel more agile on gnarly trails, whereas the larger will feel more stable. Ideally you should try both, which apparently is the issue.
