E sommet repair or renew?

My 2020 e sommet has finally succumbed to motor death. I really like the way the bike handles the look of the external battery doesn't bother me in fact it's been an advantage on long rides with a spare in the back pack. My dilemma is do I throw a chunk of money at it to get it going again or take the plunge and go new and up to date. I've test ridden a few bikes but they don't seem to handle like the old Vitus. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If you like the bike I'd look into the actual cost of repairing the motor before deciding to go new. maybe the bearing man can save the motor.

Give the e-bike motor centre a call.

If you do decide to get a new bike I would be intrested in buying your old frame if its in my size

Did you replace your motor in the end? Mine has also failed (e7000 making a racket, i think a small broken piece inside, still works tho). Shimano 'may' offer 25% off the £740rrp, but i the shop dealing with the return to remove the motor and post it so ill be down £100 already. EP8 upgrade may be an option, but bike is a little small/short coompared to more modern stuff so not sure i want to drop that sort of cash.

Thanks! I knew I’d seen that somewhere but couldn’t recall. Not sure if that’s my issue without opening it up but might be. Still unsure if it’s worth the risk damaging it by opening (e7000 being notoriously easy to damage) or sell as ‘working for repair’ to someone and buying a refurbished unit.
