E Bike Light Problem

I recently purchased a Recon E HL 1000 light for my ebike which has a Shimano E6001 drive unit. I connected the new light unit using the connections for the B & M installed front light. The E HL 1000 switchs on ok but after a short period of time about 20-30 seconds it swithces off. I've tested the light with a DC supply indoors and it works ok. The E HL 1000 according to the manufacturers is compatible with all of the Shimano drive units.
I was wondering if anyone can suggest what the cause of the the problem is and a possilbe solution. Many Thanks

I don't know about Shimano, but on my Bosch there is an absolute max current that the light may draw. If the light draws more than the 18w limit, the Bosch motor just shuts off the lamp and displays an error.

I've run further tests, the light will switch off even when dark, I've also tested indoors with a mobile phonr powerpack, it does the same thing shuts down after 30 secs approx. Accord to the specks from Shimano my Drive Unit can supply 6V at 1 A but that is for both lights. Its possible that somnething is shorting in the lamp itself after 30 secs or so .
