Still searching for a good option for my e-bike ridings . Can´t decide . At the mom I´m riding with the classic set mtb shoes and clipless pedals but in some terrains not very happy with it.
How about dual face pedals (flap and clipless) ?
Experiences out there ?
Any Sugestions on models and combo shoes pedals?

I have combo Shimano pedals on my 20 year old hybrid (glorified pub bike). They serve their primary purpose (versatility), but in all honesty I would not recommend them for MTB - getting them on the right side to pedal with depending on the shoe type every time you start is annoying, and the flat side is not grippy. They are less compromised on the clipless side, but still are still rather thick so I would imagine pedal strikes will be more prevalent compared to an optmised MTB clipless pedal. My honest opinon would be to borrow or buy a set of flats and ride them for a few hundred miles, then settle on one or the other.

Worst of both worlds IMHO.

What's the actual issue?

I ride clips but use FiveTen shoes and large platform style pedals like these;

I'm not going to claim they're the best of both worlds, but I have the security of clips with the versatility of flats which have prevented an unscheduled dismount on several occasions.

Sorry, not sure i understand. I assume your shoes have clips, so how can the flats save you in case of a necessary dismount if you are fixed to the pedal anyway?

If I don't, or can't, clip in the pedal has a large platform with pins, just like a normal flat pedal. The FiveTen SPD shoes work on both SPD and flat pedals.

The pedals are the Nukeproof Horizon DH that I posted earlier, the shoes are FiveTen Impact VXi.

Great, I will perhaps give them a try. (Btw, I got that they were nukeproof horizon ( I can read, although my wife usually doesn’t believe it), I just didn’t know the exact model ?). Looks like a nice versatile solution and i want to practice manuals and jumps more with flats but I am not sure I am ready to give up clipless. This might be a good way to go...

There is a one sided sod pedal very similar to the nukeproof .
The similar new shimano saint spd is a better bet than the nukeproof , both great to use but the nukeproof spindle bearings didn’t last long and can’t be adjusted or serviced . I actually returned both our sets of nukproof and chain reaction refunded without question So they must know they have issues

I got bearings, bushings and end caps from CRC for mine. Only used the end caps so far after one came out.

I have tried many different dual pedals over the year. What I have found is they work however the clip side is no comparison to a good clippless pedal and the flat side is no where as good as a good flat pedal. Get what you want to ride. I do not recommend the dual pedals

I really rate the Saint SPDs, theyre the comfiest spds I've used (and I've used every style that shimano have made over the last 10-15 years). The saints are the first ones that have been any use when not clipped in.

Don't bother with the dual face ones, they wouldnt work for mtb. I have a set on my Brompton and they're great for that because I can ride it in spds or flats, but the flat side is not grippy like a mtb pedal and they have to be rotated if you want to use the flat side because the weight makes them hang spd side up.

This one Funn Mamba One Side Clip MTB Pedals | Chain Reaction Cycles. Never tried them , but they look good if you want to try one sided clip
I have some Funn pedals with a big platform and clips on both sides. they are nice grippy when not clipped in but the clip-in dont wear very well so i switched to saints, fantastic pedals, very grippy clipped in or not. I use mine with shimano shoes which have a sort of "guide channel" makes clipping in very precise
