dropper post on a Stance-e

Has anyone fitted an internally cabled dropper post to a Stance-e? I am wondering how easy it would be to route the cable.

Jenson has a Foundation post and ChainReactuin has a Brand-X post on sale. Are these any good? I would prefer not to spend big bucks on a Reverb or similar.

because the pivot bolt (if same as full e)
goes straight through the seat post.
if same as full e you have to remove motor
guard, and remove crank arm to get to one
screw, and thread the cable round the motor.
5 minute job takes 2 hrs

There is some good information in this thread. Not a perfect match to your question, but some food for thought.

It looks like the oneup dropper v2 (edit pdoz might be using the v1 dropper which jenson has for $100 45% off) is confirmed to work better than most in our giants because the pivot hole demands a shorter post body.

i originally had a giant connect 100 which was good but
only dropped 100mm
you need a tape measure and loads of time sifting through
all the dropper sizes ( main body length/stroke length)
yes i think mrteno is right the v2 is the shortest on the body but just remember
if its short on the body its short on the stroke.
good thing about the Specialized Command Post is it mechanicaly locks
at different posissions (height up and down) within the stroke length, and it is air
charged.
i have 150mm travel at the high pressure, and to be fair 125mm is just right.
therefor i had 2 options
1 run at the high pressure and drop to next lower posission
2 reduce pressure slightly and it comes up to where i want and locks

yes mate (leader of the opposition) in the house
has a cheaper one on her haibike, was the smallest i
could find, believe it was an XLC sold by Treads.
think the bottom casing was 200mm with a lift of
100mm total 300mm
this size is getting down if not equal to the V2
external cable though, but sometimes beggers can`t be choosers.
also what makes at a little neater is the actuation is at the top of the
bottom tube,(dropper) not at the seat end. the cable then threads nicely through a grommet
at the back of the top tube and through upto the stem

Ditto on the Stance-E....the pivot for the rear suspension goes through the seat post, not leaving a lot of space for the cable.

just to correct a few things

The magic of the one up dropper post is that for a given body length you get a longer stroke ( ie it's more compact inside the frame) . As an example, the giant 125 dropper is longer than the one up 150 dropper when crammed up against a giant through bolt.

The other magic is you can adjust the drop setting - it comes with various length spacers . So in your case, you could have a 150 mm dropper set to whatever length keeps uncle bob suitable castrated. Better still, you can adjust the pressure to make certain the jobs done.

i answered this question as best i could.
the question of which size dropper was also covered, and as much as i agree
with a lot of what you say, my reply was based on the date that i converted
my own full e and my better halves haibike in respect of One Offs dropper,
it was not availlable in uk at that time and the manufacturer were showing zero stock and
NO lead time date as to re stocking.
i chose what i thought was the best available to suit me and the missus at that point in time
and they have been very good with no issues.
we would all like "the best of the best of the best, with honours" but sometimes price and availlability dictates what people can buy.
one last note, the dropper on my better halves haibike is the same size as the One Off

You inspired me. I have been able to run a small nylon strap between the motor connector and the seat tube with the help of a vacuum applied to the top of the seat tube. So I have a good path.

Oldcrank, did they run the cable through that little rubber plug that already has three cables/hoses going into it on the left side of the frame or the unused plug on the right side?

I have a brand x on my daughters norco , it's a perfectly adequate dropper post and a bit better than the giant one but nowhere near as nice as the oneup . I guess you have to decide how much you wish to spend - especially since the one up doesn't come with a cable or lever.

I find the brand x starts sticking every 3 months and then refuses to fully extend within the hext couple of rides , so about an hour spent opening it up / cleaning / re greasing etc. It's done this for 3 years so that's 12 hours of my time. Between the seals and internal slop it just fills with crud . It still works, but I wouldn't buy another Same goes for the giant dropper - so that was a year or 4 hours wasted, but also god knows how long staring at cables that gad fallen off the giant dropper / trying to work out how to get to that cable jammed up against the trunnion bolt / trying to work out what is sticking in the giant dropper / swearing and ranting randomly in the shed.....then several hours looking for the tools I've thrown around....

By comparison, I installed the one up about a year ago and haven't touched it since. It has survived a drag behind the car episode that mangled the seat. Every single time I push that lever and the seat smoothly returns to where it should be I have this nice warm fuzzy feeling.....three years , 3 bikes with not quite right droppers.....this thing is bordering on erotic....You have probably noticed I like them?

it has a pressure tube inside that is not sold.
please be aware of this on the cheaper droppers,
can i service it with a new tube or 1 year and
1 day later do i have to throw the whole dropper
away and start again

up there.(service is on youtube) have a look

seals, parts etc are available, very easy to do
and as others rockshox etc are the servicable ones too,

dont be bitten by cheap and chearfull and then get your
fingers burned by having to buy a complete new one
and if you are looking at the One Up V2 that is a replacement
cartridge type too at £170 - £180 plus the trigger
cartridge goes and thats another £60.00

Where are you getting those prices? $60 us for the v2 cartridge
