After a ride, my dropper post was making a slushing from water in the post every time it was pushed down. As I removed it to have a look... of course the cable detached! Arrggg

Is there an easy way to reattach it or is taking the motor of necessary?

If it is just the cable inner and the outer is still in place then simply disconnect the inner at the bar lever. Then thread a new inner cable down the outer tube and connect to the seat post, connect the other end to the lever. Simples. No need to remove the motor if the cable outer is still in place. One tip never ever remove both the inner and outer cables always leave one in to guide the other when replacing. I learnt this the hard way a few years ago :)
Not sure why you have water in your dropper though

A bit got in while washing the bike after a muddy ride from the top under the seat. It's gone and I probably should have just turned the bike upsidedown in hindsight. ? But I wasn't sure if it was in the post or under at the time.

Ahhh...I tried to undo it at the handlebar and push both the inner and outer just enough to grab it and reconnect but it wouldn't budge. But I'll give it another go with your suggestion ?

Cheers mate ?

Is the outer cable twisted in the seat tube? I found that mine went incredibly tight when it coiled in the seat tube. I simply wound the outer cable the opposite direction and that gave me a bit more slack to reconnect to the seat post

So I had another look and what I realised is the most obvious...that the cables that run down the side next to the battery and are held in place by clips. They simply needed to be loosened so the cable could move more freely. Worked a charm and all reconnected! ?

Cheers for the help though and hopefully helps someone else down the track!

You’ve helped me already - one up 180mm dropper arrived yesterday - couldn’t get the old dropper out enough to detach cable from stock dropper in thr 5 mins I had, though, ah, ¥$€% it, I’ll have a proper look tomorrow!

I did same by accident while putting carbon paste on seat post , managed to hook it with a bent wire and pulled it out with pliers on a Levo last week.
