Dropper lever stiff - 2020 Levo FSR Base model

My new 2020 Levo FSR Base model (XL frame) has a very stiff dropper post lever. I sometimes have to push so hard with my left thumb that I do an accidental pull on the brake lever (in my case the front brake!). The dealer suggests I upgrade the dropper, but surely Specialized does not install such a poor dropper post system in a new bike, that it needs an immediate upgrade to ride safely?

I compared it to the 2020 Levo FSR Comp model and it has no such issues. Anyone else experienced this?

On a year old demo Fattie the post wasn't particularly smooth or impressive. But as this was a used machine... I would take it the the shop and get them to check it.

Check the post actuator isn't fouling , lift the post a few mm ,they can jam inside.
If that fixes it , you may need a shorter dropper..

If your dropper cable runs through the frame, and you've adjusted the height of the dropper clamp, did you pull the surplus dropper cable out of the frame? If not it might be binding.
Release the dropper clamp bolt and push down and pull up the dropper lower section whilst feeding in and pulling out the dropper cable at the front of the frame. Don't over tighten the dropper clamp bolt, this can also cause binding.
