Santa brought me some hope 155 cranks for my Gen 3 Levo, Santa did get the correct off set.

Removed the old praxis cranks which I have done before after muddy ride and replaced them with the hope, but on the drive side there is a Rubber o-ring which sits between the crank arm and spider lock ring.

I’ve greased the o-ring but there is a lot of drag, put the praxis back on and all is good.
Tried the hope cranks with no seal and spin’s freely. Tried torque at 50 nm as hope recommends and 40 nm which is what stated for the praxis.

I’m assuming I shouldn’t leave the o-ring off as it a weather / water seal.

Im lost what to do? Any ideas

How tight are the cranks with the seals in? A little effort to turn them would not be a big deal. Leaving the O rings off will most likely allow water and dirt in. Greasing the O rings will get dirt and grit stuck to them. I would wait before installing the new cranks and give them a call as soon as they are back from Xmas break.

UPDATE: I’m a Christmas idiot dropped the chain and pedal forward and it was fine the slight drag was on the back pedal

Don't grease O rings that do not slide inside a tube (bike pump, air shaft etc).
The grease makes them too slippery and they pop out. Especially when squashed between two metal surfaces.
