Does your Haibike sound like this?

The best I can determine is that the sound is coming from the jockey pulley on the SES (Sprocket Equalization System). This is freshly cleaned and lubed.

Is it normal? Seems awfully loud..

I wanted to update this thread in case anyone else has ideas, because it's driving me nuts.

I've done everything I can think of. Yesterday I disconnected the chain guide and lifted it up by hand so the chain was not riding on the pulley, and the sound went away. So it's definitely coming from there.

I removed the pulley and greased the bearing. Everything looked fine. Chain line looks good, nothing bent. It's shifting perfectly. As far as I can tell it's the chain moving over that pulley!

But other people, some with the same exact bike, say theirs doesn't make that noise...

WTH?

Mine makes that noise as well. It's almost as annoying as the squeek from my forks.
Really? Well, crap. It's definitely is annoying. If it's normal I'm surprised there isn't more people discussing it. I had a FullNine Yamaha that was nice and quiet...

I found the fix! By accident. I did start having some indexing problems and I couldn't get it right so I took it to my mechanic. He said the chain was too long. He took out some links, and in addition to fixing the indexing it solved my SES pulley noise.

This after a month of trying to figure it out... @R120 apparently you were on the right track! Though at the time it was shifting nicely...

Hello

I noticed mine had no noise when new but now it had it pretty bad, I replaced the sas bearing and it was still noisy. Lubing the chain definitely cured the noise but it was temporary. That pointed to the chain being the culprit. I checked the wear and sure enough, 5% worn at 600 miles. Installed a kmc e bike chain and all is well with the world.

I'm going out for the first time tomorrow with 1 mile on the clock on my almtn 4 ,I think il be keeping an eye on my chain as it seems these machines eat the drive gear faster than your basic mb.

Yes , I'm not surprised as the motors can put down some serious torque. Iv only done 42 miles on mine and iv bought a chain checker!. I'm wondering if ebikes aught to have a beefed up gearing system to match the power output of the bike, something for future development no doubt.
